Hi eoin53 Welcome to our wonderful forum, I'm sure you will love it and find it invaluable chatting to others who are going through the same as you, at different stages of their lives with fibromyalgia.
You don't say if you have Fibromyalgia or think you have it, so it would help if you could let us know, so we can offer appropriate advice. I can tell you that a deficiency in these things are normally because of being anaemic but, the reasons for you being anaemic can be many. They are sometimes given to help improve the health condition of someone with Fibromyalgia but you would have to have a lot more symptoms than being anaemic.
I hope this helps and I look forward to chatting with you on the forum.

Hi, I also have a B12 deficiency and just had the six loading doses. I don't feel much different yet. I have now been put on the 12 weekly doses. My first is end of September. What is folic acid? Is that just something women take. I think my wife took this when she was pregnant.

it is something to do with my body not getting enough protiens but eat lots of veg and fruit also i am very badly anemic regards Eoin
I don't know the cause but can tell you many of us seem to have problems with absorbing vitamins and minerals xx
I have my B12 injections monthly now. Not sure when the guidelines changed ?
I certainly know when I am due for the next one as I get extra tired and suffer cracked lips and corners of my mouth.
I had to take both and when that happens it is called pernicious anemia . The reasons for the B12 injections is because something in your tummy stops your body from getting B12 from your food. when this happens i guess it would make sense that you would then become low in iron as you are unable to get that from your food too.
Pernicious anemia is a condition caused by too little vitamin B12 in the body. It is one form of vitamin B12 deficiency anemia. Vitamin B12 helps the body make healthy red blood cells and helps keep nerve cells healthy. It is found in animal foods, including meat, fish, eggs, milk, and other dairy products
I hope this helps a little i'm no expert but I do know i felt very tired before I had the medication to help put it right. xx

PS just a thought but have you had a Vit D test ? if not it wouldn't harm to as your GP about having one as most people are very low in this and it can cause added pain problems. I have just had a course of D Vit meds and it went from 20 which is very low to 86.
Hi eoin53
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so truly sorry to read of your folic acid deficiency and *WebMD says:
*What causes folic acid deficiency anemia?
You can get folic acid deficiency anemia if:
You don't eat enough foods that contain folic acid. These include citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables, and fortified cereals.
You have a greater need for folic acid. This might happen if you are pregnant or have some medical problems, such as sickle cell disease.
Your body doesn't absorb enough folic acid. This might happen if you drink too much alcohol or have severe kidney problems that require dialysis.
You take certain medicines, such as some used for cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and seizures.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
