Hi GGCG Welcome to our wonderful forum, I'm sure you will love it and find it invaluable chatting to others who are going through the same as you, at different stages of their lives with fibromyalgia.

You don't say if you have fibromyalgia or think you have it, it would be useful to know a little about you, so we can point you in the right direction.and I look forward to chatting with you on the forum.

Please do go check out the mother site fmauk.org where you will find lots of useful information and links on fibro and I look forward to chatting with you on the forum

Peace, luv n light

It's a good idea to lock your posts to the community, so it's not open to the internet. If you look to right of screen you will see under "Pinned Posts" a link to simple instructions on how to lock it.

Your very welcome 😀 Arthritis is very painful, I have it aswell. A lot of our members quite often post about arthritis, so your quite welcome to stay if you want to. There is an arthritis forum & this can be found if you go to top of page on the menu bar, there is a square, next to notifications bell, tap the square & a drop down menu will give you a choice of various forum.

Hi GGCG

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.

I also have arthritis, and I saw a physio about this (among other stuff) and she said to stretch very gently and very slowly to try and avoid the pain. The exercises that she gave me are a serious of very gentle and slow movements of the joints to do whilst laying down on the bed. It may be worth talking to your doctor about a referral?

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Something I find helpful is Tonic Water and Bitter lemon drinks. They both contain a small amount of quinine, which helps cramps. My doctor suggested it to me several years ago, because Quinine tablets can have nasty side effects.

Hi, have you tried using Epsom salts in bath, or in a bowl you can put your feet in, the magnesium is absorbed through the skin and is very good for easing muscle pain. You can also buy magnesium in a spray from chemists, it works the same. All the best

Hello GGCG, you say you have arthritis as many of us in later life do and it is a very common complaint. Pain, pain and ever more pain. Our Forum group members have pain in various forms, so you are at the cross over point between arthritis of the older age and symptoms of fibromyalgia.

You did mention that you have an or an uncontrollable urge to stretch and when you do the cramps start. Sometimes it only happens at night and keeps you awake, but sometimes it happens all the day and night. What comes to mind is what we call Restless Leg Syndrome. However it does not only cover your legs it can also be a problem in the arms too. When someone has RLS they thrash around the bed most of the night and have a poor sleep pattern so they feel tired in the morning even though they have been in bed for about 8-10 hours. You might get night sweats with it too and an unusual feeling in your back. It is like laying down on a big roll of bubble wrap and the back feels as if it is popping but with out pain. Quinine for the cramps in your legs is a good start. Your GP can prescribe it for you, if you have the other symptoms then there are other medications that can control the urges to stretch your arms and legs plus the whole of the body and shout out uuuuurrrrrraaaaarrrr, just like a long sigh

It is nice to have new people on board especially silver surfers like us. Take care and hope that your problems get sorted soon. Oldman1952.

I have had some relief for a few days, but tonight the problem is back with a vengeance. the muscle spasms just won't stop. using heat pad for relief. Finally got up and took some aspirin. I only have low dose drug store tomorrow for the real thing. I was looking into a bath lift. I have a wonderful bath tub with jets to soak in, but have not been able to use it for a long time. can't get in or out. I saw a lift chair on the net but it is only available in UK and I am in US. must keep looking. has anyone used one of these things?
