Can anyone look into their crystal ball and tell me what my future holds? Maybe just help me.I seem to be getting frequent flare ups which last longer each time always leaving me with yet another new symptom of FM to deal with.Is this normal and will it get progressively worse finally leaving me with having to rely on a scooter to get about in if I'm able to.I can't talk to friends or family about my fears and I'm getting good at putting on a front.I don't know if I can cope with this anymore this damn thing's robbed me of everything I'm no longer me an alien has taken over my mind and my body.

Hi catzndogz welcome to our wonderful forum ☺ I'm sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you, talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro and learning from their experiences.

It does help with the whole process and I wish I had found the site years ago. I have had Fibro for nearly 30 yrs and I'm still learning about it, like we all are.

I wish I could wave a magic wand but I'm afraid it's virtually impossible to say what you will be like in the future because it effects everyone entirely differently, some ppl.manage to work most of their lives with some time off work occasionally and others can be bed ridden.

There is an awful lot of help out there but you don't say how long you have been diagnosed or what medication you take. Maybe you could go & see your gp again to discuss how you are really feeling my friend.

Please do go look at the mother site where you will find all the information you need and lots of useful links on Fibro and I look forward to chatting to you on the forum.

Ps It would also be a good idea to lock your post, so it can only be seen by the community forum. healthunlocked.com/fibromya...

Thank you. Was diagnosed about 6yrs ago although think I've had it for over 16yrs. GP no use finally seeing pain management doc in 2wks. Currently on pregabalin, duloxatine, naproxen, omeprazole , tramadol and vesicare .Maybe they've got something better for me to try, fingers crossed!

Your welcome ☺ Thats quite common for many people have it for yrs without being diagnosed. The pain clinic have a team of specialists and they do help and usually can offer alternative therapies. Like accuppuncture. Hydrotherapy and CBT (Talking Therapy) to help you come to accept your change of lifestyle because of Fibro & help you with ways to manage your pain. They can recommended other medications to your gp and it may help to have your meds altered slighty. I do hope you get some help & do let us know how it goes.

Luv Jan xx

Your present in regards to mobility is my fear for my future. Since this began when I was 16 its been a slow decline until last year when it jumped up. It's like it's telling me I got off easy for 16 years and last year it was claiming its due. I'm confused as to flares as it just seems its continuous.

Welcome. Something we soon find out is that there is no rhyme or reason with fibro. Some people develop it and it stays the same for years and then slowly gets worse with age which let's be honest most illnesses do as our bodies aren't so resiliant. Other people have a faster deterioration but again it can stop and start.

Often you can have what seems a permanent flare and you despair of it ever going away and then it will mysteriously ease and I sincerely hope that this is what happens in your case.

I would personally have a talk with your GP as you are very low and there might be some alternative therapy such as hydrotherapy which might help you.x

I've mentioned this to GP but always seems to brush it off but I'm seeing the pain management doc in hospital in 2wks time so hopefully they're more helpful with another solution
