I found this group by googling why an ultrasound could be extremely painful and I came across a post suggesting fibro as one of the causes. I was referred by the colonoscopy clinic. Now I'm wondering if my fibro is causing my internal pain which would actually be more comforting than the reason for my referral!

Hello Ericaom and welcome to our frienfly fibro forum where you can get advice, help, support and understanding.
If you would like to know more about fibro in detail I recommend our mother site fmauk.org
It would be difficult to give you a diagnosis as we are not medically qualified and the criteria of fibro is quite broadbased. Fibro tends to be the diagnosis when all other tests, blood, xrays, scans come back negative. Once conditions like autoimmune, Lyme Disease and more have been eliminated, the default tends to be fibro.
However, fibro can accompany other conditions as a secondary diagnosis and can include irritable bowel syndrome/disease.
If you think you may have fibro, your first step is to see your GP.
Thanks for replying. I was diagnosed with fibro about 10 years ago and I've had I've since I was a teen but my referral for the ultrasound was to check my womb for signs of precancerous cells/changes after the colonoscopy clinic couldn't find anything on my cervix. I'm hoping the pain from the scan is due to my fibro instead of the probe hitting something sinister. I just don't remember being in so much pain during and after a transvaginal ultrasound before.🙁
Hi Ericoam, I had treatment for precancerous cells on cervix which although I found very painful, sorted out the problem and have had no further problems in the 10 years since. Just a bit of reassurance if you do need treatment. Take care
I have had the a cervical biopsy and it left me in extreme pain. One of the reasons been I had to have C sections to deliver my children when I was young.
I have also had quite a few ultra sounds leading up to the biopsy which I found both extremely uncomfortable and sometimes very painful.
But that apart I think a lot of people suffer some kind of tenderness if not pain in that area with most internal examinations . I am glad like me the scans were clear and i hope your pain settles down soon if not I would ring your doctor. Who knows there could be an infection best to get it checked out. good luck,
Unfortunately, Pelvic pain is quite a common symptom for ladies with fibro. Sorry the scan was so painful. I do hope that the scan doesn't reveal anything too sinister. Sometimes if you have an ovarian cyst and they press down on that area it can be really painful. Do let us know how you get on.x
Hi and Welcome to the group nobody really wants to be in but we are generally a happy helpful bunch and personally if you stick around will probably find I have a weird sense of humour! I was told my pelvic pain was due to osteoarthritis. Years later after xrays and the like that diagnosis was disproved. So it is possible that your symptoms may be fibro related. Fibro affects us all in different ways so it is never easy to determine what is fibro and what is something else. Keep us posted.
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. Obviously I am not a lady, but I can imagine anything of this nature would be painful regardless of Fibro?I have undergone the bowel cancer testing and the pain form this was awful.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
Hello Ericson, welcome. I had a colposcopy done about five years ago. And it left me feeling very unwell I had a lot of internal pain, I also had an ectopic pregnancy and for years after I was left with pain internally. It's true that fibro affects people in different ways. To be honest in your case, you will know if this is another symptom of your fibro as time goes by.
Take care and wishing you many better pain days. If you know what I mean.
