I haven't tried these myself but my mum-in-law swears by men's thermal long-johns. She suffers with rheumatoid arthritis and struggles to stay warm so wears thermal t-shirts and ljs and they seem to work for her. Not the most glamorous of lingerie I admit but who cares if they do the trick. May be worth a try? Hope you feel better soon. xxx

I wear thermals! They do some quite nice ladies ones now. Tesco sell them as do Marks & Spencers xx

Hello pennycakes

I'm sorry to hear you're in so much pain and can truly empathise with you.

Are you able to get into the bath? If so, that is a good way to get yourself warm and ease your pain.

Have you got your heating at a good temperature? I know for some people heating bills are a worry, in which case can you heat just one room?

I am wondering whether you could be having a flare of your Fibro symptoms which is causing your extra pain.

The obvious ones are hot water bottles and wearing lots of layers.

See how you go, and if your pain has not eased by the beginning of next week perhaps a trip to see your GP may in order. Your meds may need some tweaking.

I hope some of this helps. Be kind to yourself.

Lu xx

Hi pennycakes I am sorry to hear you are suffering so much with the pain and cold.

I suggest you visit your GP and see if you need to try a different medication or perhaps "tweak" the dosage of medications you are on.

I know it can be hard to get warm once you have been chilled, and feeling chilled can make pain worse as everything tightens up and contracts.

Can you make yourself some soup, even if it is only the Cuppa Soups. Holding the mug will help your hands as well as warming you from the inside. Put a blanket over you when you are relaxing in the lounge and my favourite item is a hot water bottle, old fashioned but very useful, Fingerless gloves, warm socks and an extra jumper all help to raise your body temperature.

If you are in receipt of certain benefits you may qualify for the Warm Home Scheme run by the fuel companies. They don't advertise this but it refunds about £120 in the spring from your bill. Make sure you sign with your electric company up as soon as possible to get your refund this year. If you are with one of the smaller companies who do not offer this consider switching to one of the big six.

This is different from the other Warm Deal Schemes but is well worth having.

Hope this helps.

I love my electric blanket I would marry it if I could! I also have a heated throw, a bit cumbersome and so warm that to be quite honest you don't want to get out from under it but it definitely helps when I have a flare.x

Hi pennycakes - don't think we've 'met' before so pleased to make your acquaintance.

I'm afraid I can't really help as I also struggle, particularly today, another of the joys of fibro hey?

Hope you find a solution.

Thinking about you hun.

Warm hugs xxx

To keep warm in cold weather, I love my microwavable heating pads. I stuff them in my shirt, lower back (waist of pants), then put blankets of jacket over. Even if my face is freezing, my body is not tensing over the cold, because all the warmth is trapped in keeping me warm.

Pain- Magnesium chloride oil diluted with distilled water is my go to, as I don't take pain killers.

Tight painful muscles, I rub and stretch and pump the muscle a tiny bit (&I mean TINY bit) and foam roll till it calms down enough to be tolerable.

Juicing helps my muscles and energy levels.

Not sure what else right now my mind is blanking on me.

Good luck××

I got my first set of long johns in my life this xmas as a gift from a thoughtful friend, they provide a warm basis to keep away a level of chill without baking you if you go from outside into a building. Layers is usually the answer instead of bulk items, and although i wiuld have sworn i never would round my flat i often wear a onesie, i find it quite comical that a man in his mid 50s wears a baby suit but it is sooo comfortable i really dont care and no buttons just one zip and 1 size too big its easy to get on and off. Dignity be damned im going for comfort!

Blessings

Layers and layers. I'm wearing four layers of teeshirts and sweaters, and have two rugs over my lap!

Hi pennycakes

I am so genuinely sorry to read of how you are suffering and struggling and I sincerely hope that your pain eases soon for you. Alas, I have the opposite issue, as I suffer with Hyperhidrosis I generally do not feel the cold. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
