Unable to remain asleep...!

Hi all fibrofriends...hope everyone is making the best they can out of their different and difficult situations...!

No matter what I do or however long I stay awake I am unable to sleep more than 2 hours at a time, which is few an far between i might add, and the rest of the time I am like a zombie, fatigued, in pain of various levels and fit for nothing...!

Is anyone here experiencing this same problem staying asleep and also any advice would be greatly welcomed...!?

Thanks & Christmas blessings to all...

Hughbro, Belfast.

Hi Hughbro

Do you take any meds to help you sleep such as amatriptyline? Have you tried asking GP for something to help?

Sorry for asking if it's not possible for you to take anything along with any other medication you could be taking.

I've no magic cure and often just lie in bed either on the iPad or with my eyes closed, I pretend to myself that it's restful!

Hope you manage to find some relief and have more than a couple of hours.

Linda xx

Hiya Linda...

Yes I've tried almost everything my GP has to offer for sleep, am on the usual meds for fibromyalgia, the only thing helped a we bit was the BuTrans pain patches but with them my quality of life was zilch.

Hope you are keeping well Linda...

Hey, the cold wether has been a bother for me myself lately. Have you tried using epsom salt baths? I don't take tablets because I get terrible reactions to them all. amatriptyline actually disturbs my sleep. About 2-3 times a week I have an epsom salt bath with muscle soak, I still have bad pain but I manage to sleep more. Also try not to have electronics like mobiles or tv's in the bedroom, tense different parts of your body and then relax them. These are little things that help me most nights. The pain is still there but I seem to trick my body into relaxing xx Hope this helps a little xxx

Hi CushMonkey...

Thanks, yeah the hot water baths are relaxing an ease pain a little but it's also difficult to get dried etc with little or no energy an it never improves sleep.

Hope you are keeping well...

Blessings.

Sorry I forgot to add, I have a back massager with heat that I can lay on the bed. It was only about £20 off amazon. I use that when i'm at my worst. The heat helps take away that horrible feeling in your legs x It's worth a try x

Soft hugs xx

Hi Hidden

I was just going to write ''Amitriptyline' until I read that Scottish-piglet had beaten me to it. It usually works for most Fibro sufferers so your sleep issues must be quite bad? Have you talked to your doctor about one of the herbal sleeping tablets? They may be worth a try. Although they are available to buy over the counter, it is best to talk to your GP first in case they interact with your medications.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I'm in the same situation...can't sleep much and when I do it's a big deal in my house because everyone knows you deal better with the pain when you've slept;) I do take tizanidine and that helps some when it's bad...I'm here in the states so I don't know if you can get it where you're at. I'm thinking of you and hope it gets better soon.

Thanks Christy...

Blessings to ya from here in Northern Ireland...

Hi all, apart from amitriptyline I find the self hypnosis apps quite good especially glen harrod on the beach but there are a few and they are all good, most of the time I never get to the end. X

Found after a while made sleeping worse as works for short period plus not at same dose have to change it or body gets used to it!

but we both got palpitations plus prostate issues amongst other things

Best ive found for sleep is a really comfy bed/bedding with real cotton bed wear

and i sleep now when need it not at times as sometimes can be up for while and just get tired so take my self off or other times can go for long periods till tired just have to be aware of getting overtired it's a hard one trying to get a balance

Plus i take no or very little in way of any meds keep always to a minimum that way if do need to take anything it works or you just end up rattling adding to a chemical mess rather than they helping you

Hi, I always wake up after around 4 hours sleep. I make myself a cup of herbal night time tea and add a chamomile tea bag for good measure and a half tea spoon of Manuka honey and take a rich tea biscuit. I find that this will send me back to sleep within half and hour to an hour tops.

I hope you feel this is worth a try.

Take care of yourself
