Hi Hidden

I have never taken anything like this my friend, but I have pasted you an excerpt and a link to the *patient information website so I sincerely hope that you find this useful:

*Orlistat is a medicine which can help you to lose weight if you are obese or overweight. It works by blocking chemicals (enzymes) in your gut which digest fat. Nearly a third of the fat that you eat is blocked by orlistat. The undigested fat is not absorbed into your body, and is passed out with your stools (faeces).

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your new medication and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Good morning Hidden you will have to watch what you eat with orlistat, any thing with too much fat in like your butter, cream, anything.... you will pay the price and it's not very nice 😖. But good to help with weight loss. Good luck 🤗 X

Hi

I took orlistat some years ago and they do help with weight loss but you have to stick rigidly to the diet.

I found even having a little semi skimmed milk in my tea was too much and had me rushing to the loo. You have to stop pastry, anything with vegetable oil, eggs, oily fish, most if not all meat dishes, cake, dairy and anything with milk, like cereals, rice pudding, etc.

I gave up after about 2 months because I could not put up with the side effects of even having the slightest fat in something and my diet was extremely boring and limited.

You can't have even a smidgin of salad dressing to add taste to yet another salad meal. I ruined a lot of underwear and had to change sheets often because of oily leakage, and don't just think you have wind because it won't be!

My case is extreme I know and maybe I was just super sensitive, but be aware!

Morning bluebell- its a shame you weren,t guided by manufacturers really, all the things you mention would have been a big No No anyway, these are the naughties that cause weight gain especially people like us with slow mobility I was guided by less than 5% fat in any products cut out butter go to benecol or flora pro active, slimmed milk or flora pro active, make your own chips and bake them in oven without oils just basted lightly, lots of fish, chicken and avoid red meats,,porridge for breakfast or shredded wheat, cut right down on bread or buy lighter bread.. Dairy free products are delicious too and fat free like alpro soya,Yes I had times of "leaks" but that was if I overdid the intake! smaller portions smaller plates. you really do need loads of water with this diet and good guidance from Zenecal to help you succeed, I would try it again if it was offered.

Yes I sometimes feel like I would rattle if shook!! I,ve tried orlistat before, it is effective but you cannot cheat with it! I lost 2.5 stone (I was 12st at the time) I was supported by Zenecal the makers with a diet programme because of GERD I had to be choosy what I could eat but they were terrific in helping me so good luck stick to it-don't weigh your self daily as you will be disappointed weigh yourself evry 2 weeks and watch the pounds come off...

I had them years ago but only took it for a few days as it gave me really bad pain in my stomach even though I was eating no fat at all. I couldn't go to the loo either! GP told me to stop them immediately.

Hi , there have you concideted get the pharmacist make up a nomad , I am not sure if you have to go through your doctor or not but they are brilliant and you dont have loads of medication to keep track of and remember if you have taken it or not.

I get mine delivered every Monday and it got my weeks tablets sorted out for me morning ,afternoon ,tea time and night time

I have the odd tablet out with the nomad if I only take it if required , like my prednisone the amount of them i take depends on how my breathing is also i have my inhalers but it is a lot less to have to remember and as you said it opening every box and trying to get the tablets out can be a nightmare its self if your hanfs areplaying up,

My partner was advised to ware gloves like you the doctors use as buy him touching my medication some of it can get in to his pores that was when he was working as if he was drug tested at work he could fail.

Hi I am on 2700mg per day of gabapentin and my appetite has totally gone, I'm having to force 1 meal a day down me. A couple of years ago I was on orlistat and they were horrid, all I will say is orange grease!! X
