Yes, constant back, hip, pelvis pain. I do have arthritis in my spine, bulging discs, etc. Have been offered no help from neurosurgeon.. Lose weight, and get fit!! I can't walk as my leg goes numb..tho I still muck out our horses every day! I refuse to say I have 'raging' (his word) pain, so he won't do anything.

Hi Max23 and welcome to our wonderful forum I'm sure you will come to love it as we all do. It really helps to be able to interact with others that are going through or been through the same experiences as yourself.
I am sorry you are having so much pain at the moment. I am afraid most people with Fibro seem to suffer with Back/Hips etc. I have back pain everyday, Some days worse than others but its always there, sometimes like a nagging tooth ache and other times its so painful I can hardly walk.
Please do go and check out the Mother Site fmauk.org Where you will find lots of useful
Information and links. If you subscribe to emails you will get all the latest news on Fibro
I look forward to chatting with you on the forum.
PS
I advise you to lock your post for your safety as unlocked posts are open to the internet, I have pasted a link to easy guideline on how to do this yourself in future.
I do get a lot of back pain and some days I struggle sitting standing or bending over .... even walking can be a nightmare . But like you doctors say it's your weight ... well I asked to go to a dietician and the doctor said no . So I give up now .....
I wish you well and good luck xx
Welcome Max from Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours) I retired from nursing this year age 61 with fibro, calcium crystal disease and OA, I too have a very low back pain most of the time,I recently had an MRI scan of the area still waiting for results..The muscle pain is deffo fibro the coccyx pain??? Yes it sometimes radiates across my hips and in years gone by I had anky spond which has left its marks.. I take 1 x 400 ibuprofen daily with food and paracetamol every 4 hours after that, it keeps it bearable for now. its worse in the morning and sitting for a while sets if off,, ON Monday I go to hydrotherapy and have an excercise programme that also helps but it doesn,t shift it completely.. I would recommend you ask for
a scan of some kind to look at the area and make sure it is muscle and not anything else. And yes max I,ve been told to shed a few pounds too and I know I need to!!
Good to see another male on here (hope Im right with that - sorry if not)
I like chatting with ladies but this condition does affect men too.
I have been having a lot of pain in my back recently. I find the pain moves around my back, one day it is in my lower back another in my side and then in my shoulders. Last night it was in my shoulder blade. The pain changes too, from a dull ache to a sharp burning pain.
I saw my gp last week to just check that it was nothing else. We seem to blame every pain or ailment on fibro so it is best to get it checked out at the doctors. He said he couldnt find anything else after giving me a good check over, so it is the dreaded fibro.
Yes max know the feeling well! My back pain is constantly there some days worse than others! I find resting and pacing yourself helps try not to lift continually as well or you'll be in more pain the next day! Do things in moderation my friend, hope this helps but yes I agree with the others it's definitely a well known symptom of the dreaded fibromyalgia! Some days worse than others! Xx
Not sure if someone else said this, but have you tried stretching the muscles in that area? They might be tight pushing on or pinching a nerve.
I also found relief going to the chiropractor and massage also helps loosen the muscle more and brings more oxygen to the muscle which helps it heal. Or at least it helps me.
I too get considerable back pain and spasms where my back locks but is excruciatingly painful and the only treatment is oramorph and diazepan over the period which knocks me out and gradually reduces it all. I was told to loose weight which I did almost three stones using SW, I still get it happen, I still get back pain, pelvis and hip pain and lots of nerve pain so it's not all down to weight. I now take duloxetine which helps with the nerve pain but not the rest. Fibromyalgia has a huge amount to answer for!
Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so gneuinely sorry to read that you are suffering and struggling with your back, and I too have this sort of pain constantly. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.
Hello. I have scoliosis too but also have this terrible pain. I'm actually a few pounds underweight so the weight thing isn't always a reason, i know losing weight couldn't hurt but it seems unfair they put so much emphasis on this and don't help. Pain affects people regardless so weight loss isn't a cure all!
