I am loving my choir but we arent allowed to have our words when performing. Trouble is my memory is awful. I have played the song about 20 times and keep reading words. Just dont go into my foggy brain.

We are doing 'mary did you Know' by the Pentatonix. Lovely hymn.

Also 3 others. I will have to write the words on my hands I think.

Just put a we playlist together of the music you have to learn and put a few other things on that you enjoy to break it up then put them on constant play in the background and stop trying so hard!

I am forever playing music by Canadian singers, Isabelle Boulay and Chantal Chamberland,, I can now sing along quite fluently in French even tho I understand little of it.

Just like Polly the parrot!

Your stressing and probably telling yourself,,, "Oh I am never going to get this", relax and it will all happen, I think your expecting to much in a mere 20 playings with all that stress, I could never do it that way !

Best Wishes, Ray

It is said that singing is good for the soul and very therapeutic as it makes you concentrate.

I think anything that gets you out of the house, socialising with people with a common interest and taking pleasure in what you do is very uplifting.

Perhaps a prompt like the first word of the next verse will help or indeed just singing along when you play it. Once you have the rhythm and natural pauses sorted it should become easier. Like RayB says, don't stress over it, relax and just absorb it.

Is this for a particular concert or competition? If so, Good Luck with it!
