Thought I had lost the plot

I went to my doctors on Friday to advise him that I had a new symptom.

My legs are still really painful and I'm still struggling with balance, but they are numb

at the same time? Is that even possible... well yes is it

Great I said so I haven't lost the plot, after 26 years fibromyalgia still surprises me πŸ™ŠπŸ˜’

Yep me too! I've had Fibro, ME etc for 36 years but am still getting new symptoms.

I already have a long enough list!

To say it is a horrid condition to suffer from is the under statement of the Century.

Just when I thought I knew everything there was to know I get something else.

Tinnitus is my new addition and my ME has flared to a level I have never experienced before. It is so debilitatingπŸ˜“πŸ˜“πŸ˜“

Wishing you less pain and more peace

Aww Bluemermaid Tinnitus is dreadful - I have the ringing in my ears as I type this to you and there's nowt they can do for it - and to have ME flare up too isn't nice - I am very lucky not to have this so can't think what you go through all I know about it is what I read and know it's debilitating it's bad enough having Fibro and arthritis without that too. Hugs n kisses coming your way πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜

Hi Hidden

Thank you so much for the love and kisses.

You have no idea how much that means. I am struggling quite badly at the moment.

The love and kindness I have received here has helped me enormously.

Fibro is such a lonely illness and it is wonderful to be amongst friends who understand how I feel.

Hugs & kisses back at you my friend xx

Aww thanks to you too - it is a a lovely forum and everyone to some point know what people like yourself are going through as I said before it humbles me as I know I don't go through one half of what some of you do and I thank God for blessing me - sometimes when I read posts I could cry for you and want to reach out and give you proper hugs but lightly not like my dad he'd give big hugs and cos I am little he'd catch my ears in the hugs and with my earrings in boy it hurt πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

You take care and hope you have a goodnight sleep 😴 and the tinnitus eases for you. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜

Evening Blue did the doctors know about fibro 32 years ago?

BlueMermaid3 profile image

Hi Toolie

Ooops! I can't count!! I was diagnosed in 1980, so actually it was 36 years ago.

Yes, the doctor I saw told me that without a doubt I had Fibromyalgia and ME.

I don't know how old you are, but ME at that time was known as "Yuppie 'Flu" and that basically it was something that younger adults were "apparently" suffering from.

It wasn't taken very seriously by the medical profession at that time.

Obviously there was no internet so it was just a case of reading books and researching that way.

Thanks for reply, l am a young 67. So fibro was called me? or yuppie flu?.

BlueMermaid3 profile image
BlueMermaid3β€’ in reply touggycat

No, Fibromyalgia is one illness. Not everyone who has Fibro has ME as well.

ME is also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome xx

Thanks for explaining

You're very welcome. Fatigue obviously plays a part in Fibro, but in ME it is in a class of its own! xx

I am 67 so yes I do know what you mean - the medics thought it was all in the mind - and it was a get out of work excuse in other words calling people who felt like this were lazy.

My dexter has just posted that her mum was diagnosed as having fibrositis years ago which is now recognised as Fibro it was interesting for me as GP years ago told me that is what I had but I was prescribed nothing so I could have had this for 40 years along with arthritis which I've had since 1985/6. 😘😘😘

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 26 years ago, then about 10 years ago with ME too, but it does feel like I'm crazy at times, I only get out 2/3 times a month due to the pain and fatigue etc.

I also have 3 bulging discs in my spine, I'm on elbow crutches because my balance is rubbish lol πŸ˜‚

I'm lucky that I live with my mother who's a wonderful support for me, I have a good doctor to which is so much help because he listens.

Things are bad at the mo I only manage 2/3 hours before I have lie down if I get up at all. But hey just another SSDD

Hugs to all xx

Hi Lu. Tinnitus was one of my first symptoms and it has nrver been more than an occasional irritation. Then last year it gave me a nice surprise. Musical ear. Now that can drive me round the bend. It sounds like a choir singing in the distance but i cant quite make out what they are singing,so i have to keep stopping myself from concentrate on it. Other times its like a brass band or chiuch bells.

Luckily i dont get it often or for long.

Sending hugs. XX

Yes this is what I went to my doctors for as I was terrified walking the dog as I thought my thighs were seizing up and I would collapse in a heap on the road whilst traffic was coming at me. Take care 😘😘😘

Hi tracypom

Nothing surprises me any more about fibro, but I do get cross when I hear lazy doctors say it is "your fibro" because they don't want to bother looking for a different answer.

Take care

Kay

I'll second that one Kay!

Oh wow my dexter I was told I had this years ago by my GP but got nothing for it - it was only in top of my back then - think I was in my early 20's at the time so this could have been festering for 40 years - interesting. 😘😘😘

Yes I agree with you.

My mum had a slipped disc and had op for it which eventually helped her but as far as I know she didn't suffer anything else as she didn't say

What I do wonder is - they say if you have arthritis this can be linked to eczema and/or scoriosis (not sure if spelling) I know scoriosis runs in my family- aunts and cousins that is - those that have it don't have arthritis - get what I mean - but I don't know how true this is. I am OK asthma giving a bit of jip at the moment - remembered I have a script to pick up tomorrow that has a higher dose of my inhaler on it so going to try that first and see if it settles the asthma down then I won't need to go to surgery thankfully. Take care hun. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜

Yes if we tried to list all the symptoms of fibro we would be writing a rather heavy book.x

Hi Hidden funny you should say that. As I have asthma and COPD I have a care plan with my surgery. On the care plan it says that I have Fibrositis.

Hi tracypom

I am so genuinely sorry to read this and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck my friend. I have developed a few new symptoms over the years. However, I do always have them checked out just to make sure it is my Fibro. Please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
