Feeling really flat.

Hi, I sent a message last week about a part time job I applied for. I wasnt sure if I wanted the job anyway, which is good as I havent been shortlisted for interview.

However, I feel completely flat and fed up. I have no energy to do anything. Im aching all over and really tired.

I keep telling myself that it doesnt matter about the job but I feel useless and worthless. Is there another reason I feel so low.

Is this normal part of living with fibro.

Thanks

David

Hi Golfer I,m sure we,ve messaged before- Nurse Gladys Emanuel (open all hours) if you are getting constant knock back for jobs then speak to your job centre clerk who looks after you, its very probable that you just ARE NOT well enough to consider work yet. I wonder if you are getting any therapy to help your feel more alive? With fibro pills alone are not always the way forward sadly for some they really need drug therapy, what do you take? Ever tried amitriptyline?

Hi caz-54, we may have messaged before. Thanks for the reply. Im not seeing anybody at the job centre as Im on ESA in the support group, so the job centre dont see me. I was just looking for up to 16 hours work. Im not having any therapy at the moment either, I was discharged from the NHS in April. I saw my gp in June when I felt quite good but maybe I should see him soon. He is very good and knows about fibro. Im on amitryptilene but just 10mg a day so maybe that should be increased.

I go to two different support groups and go to the gym about three times a week.

I went to the gym this morning but still feel fed up. The gym usually helps me feel more alive but not this week. Im just sat watching daytime tv.

Im sure this will pass but your point about meds is a good one, so maybe I will see the gp soon.

Thanks

David

Sorry to hear you are having a manky time David. I have times like this too and think it is partly due to fibro but also if you have been knocked back it knocks your confidence. Even though you weren't sure if you wanted the job it has made you feel unwanted and useless. Fibro can make you feel like this because all we want is to lead a "normal" life. Its hard but we have to accept that we are not who we used to be. That doesn't mean are useless and unwanted it just means we have to find another avenue/road to travel. Tell yourself that you were too good for that job and you deserve better. Its their loss not taking you on and they will regret it. Good luck. Gentle hugs Joolz.x

Being a good Dad and husband is my priority. If I cant do anything else then I can resign to that as long as I have my family.

My wife works full time and I cook the tea. We have quite a good system. I try to support my boys as much as I physically can. I know that standing in the cold for an hour or so will have an effect later this evening. But it will be worth it when I see my son.

Do you have family.

Hi David

I am wondering how low you are feeling can be attributed to SAD syndrome? The lack of bright daylight hours can affect serotonin levels in the brain and start at this time of year through to about March/April.

I have a light box which has so many (fibro fog!) lumens and does really make a difference. They can be bought for about £40 from Maplins or other electrical retailers.

Don't feel bad about not getting the job, it wasn't meant to be. There will be other opportunities!

I wish you well

Hi my friend

I want to gneuinely and sincerely tell you that you are not useless and worthless! Many Fibro sufferers suffer with this issue, and I personally talked to my GP about how I felt as it could have been mild depression? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please talk to your GP about how you are feeling my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thanks Ken, I have been diagnosed with chronic depression. Im not sure if that is part of the fibro as I was diagnosed with this before the fibro, I expect it is connected to the fibro.

I have strategies to cope, so I am going for a walk today in the fresh air. I still woke up with that heavy cloud hanging over me and that ache in my stomach, but I knowit will pass soon.

Thank you Everlife, I have been to the gym to try to make feel alive but I still have no energy today.

I know this is a symptom of fibro but it has really knocked me for six this week. It might have started with the rejection for getting a job but I feel really tired and fed up.

Nevermind, im sure it will pass. It is the weekend tomorrow.

Thanks for the message,

David

Hello David,

I have been on amitryptiline for three weeks now it has helped me with my low mood but not sure if it's helping with the Fibro yet but it can take up to six weeks to fully work.

May be worth a go think you have to be in the right place to start job hunting.I'm off work at the moment been looking at other jobs but can't do anything until I know what's happening with my current job?

Have to wait and see if they are going to medically retire me first so in limbo at the moment I'm definitely not in the right frame of mind for job seeking!

May be worth doing some voluntary work to get you back out there!

Hope things get better for you hang in there!
