No we're did you here that ? There's so many things that seem to help but don't , I think a healthy diet is the best way forward 😊

I have very dense mammary glands that cause lumps and severe pain and swelling so I was looking for some sort of pain relief and came across the Iodine information. Actually has had some amazing results for some people.

Look this up -;)

Try starflower oil or evening primrose, & take linseeds every day.

Hi landslider

As with all supplements there are are downsides too, as you can overdose on Iodine. I have pasted the results of a *Google search below?

Symptoms of iodine poisoning include:

Abdominal pain.

Coughing.

Delirium.

Diarrhea, sometimes bloody.

Fever.

Gum and tooth soreness.

Loss of appetite.

Metallic taste in mouth.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Thanks Ken

There is a place for supplements and vitamins but you do need to be careful not to take the wrong amounts. I am on warfarin so can't try anything different without consulting my GP or pharmacist - it is also difficult because each batch can vary; didn't realist this until I had a bad reaction to a herbal remedy I had taken before and my pharmacist said it was probably because I had bought from another manufacturer.

Hi panda60 I am so genuinely sorry to read that my friend. That is really interesting! Julie has experienced something similar with a supplement that she takes in conjunction with her MS medications. Take care my friend x

Hi Ken

That is absolutely right and true for most trace elements as well as vitamins.

150mcg is the max daily dosage for anybody 😁

Hi Maggie -

I (female, 52) use iodine topically on my breasts. It keeps the uncomfortable swelling and lumpiness in check. My doctor supports this.

If you want to try the iodine protocol I would suggest having your levels checked first. Then make sure you take all the co-factors dilligently. Iodine is involved in detoxing processes amongst others... when I took it internally it unmasked heavy metal problems and my thyroid medication was utilised better.

Good luck if you try it!

Hi Maggie,

I had a massive reduction in FM pain when I started taking tyroid replacement hormones, last year. FM & Hypothyroidism have almost the same symptoms. For 6 months, prior to this, I made sure my nutrition levels were good, as certain vitamins & minerals have to be optimal before these hormones can be used by the body. I even tried kelp for iodine, but noticed no change.

I also did the Barnes basal body temperature test for 4 months, & found my morning temperature was usually 35.1 degree celcius. This confirmed hypothyroidism, for me. It backed up the other symptoms I've had for 40 years, despite "normal" TSH, etc, levels.

I take NDT, the natural medication that was widely prescribed before synthetics were made, & T3. Both can be imported, & T3 is OTC in Greece & Turkey at about the same price as paracetamol. Like many people, I prefer the former, but there sems to be a variation in brands, as with any medication.

As I've posted many times, join the Thyroid UK forum for help & advice, if you find your temperature is low & these symptoms seem familiar: thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...
