I've just been prescribed duluxotine after trying everything else. Has anyone else had any success with this med. Nothing seems to help think this is a last resort. Soft hugs to you all.

New meds
Hi ladyhm , I'm sorry I haven't used this drug myself but I'm sure other members will reply as I have seen it mentioned quite a bit on the forum.
It takes a long time to get meds right and even then our body changes and they don't have same effect.
I do wish you well and they help your symptoms.
Luv Jan x
Thank you for your reply. I'm desperate now for something that will work. X
Hi ladyhm
Do you mind me asking what you are looking for from this med?
I was prescribed Duloxetine but I personally couldn't cope with the side effects.
I really should point out that I have tried just about every antidepressant there is and have only found one that I can tolerate.
I have a terrible intolerance to antidepressants and antibiotics.
The only way you will know if it is right for you is to see how you get on with it yourself.
I just wanted to be honest with you but I really do wish you all the very best of luck with it. There is no reason why it shouldn't work for you.
Wishing you much peace

hi I was put on duluxotine 3 months ago and i was very poorly for two weeks (also was coming off pregabalin) but now i am much better on the duluxotine, less pain in my legs and walking better Neese x
I also have intolerance to antibiotics. Am hoping this med might take away the pain . What side effects did u have to suffer
I am allergic to pencillin and have intolerances - gluten, wheat, sugar, dairy, - I had awful side effects for nearly 3 weeks, and the doctor told me to keep with it - aches and pains flu like symptoms , fatigue was terrible - was in bed for a week - splitting headache and going hot and cold. - then I started walking better and less pain in legs and fatigue is better - I am glad I stuck with it but we are all different - good luck. x
Thanks I'm going to start them tomorrow. Xx

All my hopes and dreams for you

I am just starting on it. My dr says it takes a few months to kick in. My daughter who also has fibro at age 28 has been on this for a while but says she does not feel it helps her overly much. Be very careful if you decide to stop taking this. they have just settled a lawsuit for problems with people coming off the medication.
Hi I have tried Duloxetine it did not work for me I have tried several but cannot get on with them the thing is with me I like to "think"I am in control I don't like feeling like a" foggy zombie " only way I can describe it 😥😥
I do take celebrex 4 a day and was told by my specialist that if I have a night that I cannot bare I can take another 2 I did this at 5am this morning wish I had succumbed earlier but I do try to tolerate it 😥
Healing fibes to you all x x x
I have never tried those but I have been taking Fluxitine for depression for years. I don't get side effects. I go through short periods when I think I need something stronger but I don't want to move up the scale any farther if you know what I mean. But on the whole I'm happy with them x
I was on this years ago and it didn't help me, but I have just started using a cream that really seems to be helping. To the point I am taking my med's a lot later than usual and I think I'm going to try and cut back on the tramadol I take. It's called Celafen. My daughter read an article on it and sent it to me. I've also let friends try it, that have muscle and joint pain and they have seen improvements too. Hope this helps
I would be really careful about getting an SNRI antidepressants prescription medication on the internet. GPs can prescribe it and it's approved for fibromyalgia so at least in Australia it's affordable. I took it years ago and seemed to help with pain for the 2 wks and as I kept taking it it made me more and more I'll. eg brain zaps, headaches, sweating all day and hot flushes.
My neuro put me on joncia which is the brand name- can't spell the chemical name! It's only been a few weeks and I'm supposed to go up slowly. Yesterday I came home late from work and took it late and had an early start at work and had a horrible time as with cymbalta for the whole day. I'm looking forward to going up on my dose if I'm going to have these side effects!
It's worth a try, everyone has a different reaction to meds! Good luck!
I have been on doloxatine for months, , I was put on them for neuropathic pain, but they are an antidepressant, I take 120mg, the only thing I notice is when I don't take them I go dizzy and feel really sick, so I think they are addictive. Worth giving them a chance , I think Iv tried nearly every tablet around for nerve and lower back pain good luck, hope they help 😜
Thanks everyone I can but try them. Don't hold out much hope though xx
Hi there I find this medication wonderful. 60mg 1 per day. Wishing you well
Hi Ladyhm
As you know what suits one person doesn't necessarily suit another. I seem to be intolerant to most things my doctor offers.
However I have been taking Cymbalta (Duloxetine) for over 3 years and find that they help enormously. I began on 30mg per day to get used to them, then upped to 60mg. During a flare or on a day when the pain is particularly bad I will take 90mg, but go back down to 60mg as soon as I can so that my body doesn't get too accustomed to the higher dose.
I did initially have side effects such as nausea, bad headaches and inability to sleep, though I put up with it as it did help the pain in my legs.
That all seems such a long time ago now. I take my tablet every morning, no side effects now, and little if no pain. Taking it in the morning works best for me because if I take it too late I am unable to sleep. I also know very quickly if I have forgotten my tablet as I feel the pain building up in my thighs, so for me this drug works. I have heard the stories of how difficult it is to withdraw from, and will cross that bridge if I should come to it. However right now I have no plans to stop it because without it I can barely walk.
I hope it helps you. Good luck. Em xxx
Thanks for that positive feedback, I'm still nervous of taking them but I will now give them a go from tomorrow. Regards helen
Hi
I'm currently reading a book called 'Fibromyalgia Your Treatment Guide by Christine Craggs-Hinton. It was published in 2013 and I believe she had another book since. Its really well written and explains different types of medication and self help things too. There's several types of pills to try. Often GP's give us antidepressants first.
I borrowed the book from the library. It's worth reading as you may find it useful.
I've tried about 5 types of antidepressants for fibromyalgia, each resulted in quite bad depression and feeling totally drugged up. I've decided that I'm not depressed chemically, I can make happy hormones. I believe thats why my brain chemistry reacted badly.
I'm in body pain, migrain pain and anxiety. So I'm in the process of working with a Rheumatologist and trying anticonvulsants.
Has your GP referred you to one yet?
Mine is very nice and understanding.
Also has your GP checked your Vitamin D and B levels? Low levels will heighten pain, depression and Fibro fog.
We also have to treat ourselves by lifestyle.
Don't give up, keep going, baby steps.
Best wishes
Lydiah
Yes my rheumatologist suggested the duluxotine, have tried quite a few tablets I am intolerant to them all unfortunately, I take a vit d supplement and my b12 levels are fine so this tab hopefully will be the one lol
