Big lump on left leg?

Hey everyone, hope your all as well as can be?

So my left leg, knee and hip has been mega sore for a few days now, bern struggling to walk properly, left leg has felt very heavy

Lying in bed there nearly in tears with the pain, leg became very itchy, so I started scratching it, I could feel something,

Put my lamp on, sat up and examined my leg, massive blueish purpleish lump on the bottom of my leg, like on my shin bone?? Am gonna go to docs in the morning to get it checked out but does anyone have any idea what this could be and why its causing my full left leg, knee and hip to be extremely painful?? Am quite worried about it as it is a rather large lump

Thanks in advance 😁 xxx

Hope you are feeling better. Good luck at the Dr's today. Afraid I have no idea.

Gosh, it sounds awful. The colour suggests a bruise of some kind but I really have no idea. I'm sure your GP will know what it is. I hope it gets sorted out quickly. Good luck :)

Hi Imh 1223,

Sister in law had similar symptoms, turned out to be Deep Vein Thrombosis.

May I suggest you go and get it checked out ASAP. She was hospitalised for a few days and had to have injections to break down the clots over several week.

I'm not a doctor but there's no harm in making sure it's not DVT which can be very dangerous if the clot travels up to your lungs, heart or brain.

Sorry to scare you but please, please go as soon as you can.

Ring NHS urgent care line on 111 and describe your symptoms to them. It certainly does sound like a DVT, but try not to worry as the Doctors on the advice line will tell you exactly what to do next. Do not delay as DVT can become life threatening if left untreated.

Please let us know you are ok.

Hi there imh,

Definitely get it checked out asap and hopefully rule out DVT that others have mentioned.

I had a similar thing on my shins, both legs some years back and they turned out to be something called erythema nodosum, and although painful and unsightly, not dangerous. That having been said I really hope your GP gets on the cause very quickly ....... Please do come back and let us know how you get on 😀

Sending lots of positive vibes your way 😀
