After reading many posts it looks like amitriptyline is one of the more popular drugs. It seems to have many uses

It does. A friend of mine has it for her migraines, it's changed her life for the better. It didn't agree with me though.
Best wishes.
I could not take amitriptyline as it was too strong for me, but I was then prescribed nortriptyline which works much better.
I take 100mg in the evening and it has helped me a lot. Gabapebtin did nothing for me. My rheumatologist thinks that my Fibro has been caused by lack of sleep. Since taking amitriptylene my symptoms have been reduced, in some cases gone. I no longer get the cramping and my legs and arms don't dance on their own when I'm in bed any more, much to my hubbys delight lol. (He has been hit a couple of times poor man). I get sleep. Not every night, but most nights.
I would think, and it's purely my own personal opinion, that the thing that helps us depends on the thing that caused Fibro in the first place. Mine being lack of sleep through spinal problems. 🐸
I sleep well on it
Hi Maisie1
I too could not take Amitriptyline and was prescribed Nortriptyline. However, as you say, Amitriptyline does have a great deal of uses and has been around a long time. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I did not find nortriptyline as effective.
