MEDS REVIEW

Just a reminder to all who are on meds. Please ensure that you ask for a regular review to ensure that you protect your internal organs from permanent damage. I found out to my cost that not having this discussion removes options and now due to Meloxicam I have irreversible kidney damage. I now am off the meds but if I had been warned about the potential damage I would have come off them before the damage was done.

We have GP lead reviews too but you need to expressly ask am I at an increased risk of organ damage if I continue on this/these meds and then you can weigh up your options. Gps tend not to offer this advice unless specifically asked. Better safe than be like me. Good luck

Hi Alexandria

I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend and I sincerely hope that you do not suffer too much? That is absolutely wonderful advice and at my surgery if I do not go for a medication review every six months they will stop my prescriptions.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

This is why I don't take any medication. I weight the odds. I'm glad I've learned to cope with out painkillers. After ampitriplin (if that's how you spell it) I didn't want to touch any more meds.

Hi, very well said. So sorry it has caused damage for you. Take care.

Thanks for this, we never have a review, I will ask at my next appointment, sorry you have ended up with kidney damage, it shows how strong and toxic some of theses drugs are, take care, X

So if sorry you have had this major problem. I am not a fan of that particular drug either as I was given it many years back to help with very painful periods. At that time you didn't have all the warnings on the boxes and it didn't mention that you should take it with a full grasp last if water and if stomach problems were an issue to take it with fibro good etc. My IBS started after taking the drug and I always wondered whether it was the trigger.

Thank you for highlighting this for other people as it is only by sharing our experiences that we can have help each other.x
