I used to take oral morphine and slow release tablet form, For 3 years and found it wasn’t helping me like it did before as my body had gotten used to it. I stopped taking it cold turkey as they say. I didn’t have any side effects but it’s not the same for everyone. Ask the doctor see what they recommend🙂
I've not came off all meds, but have reduced them to only ones which I know benefit me.
I know people who have came off meds and realised that they were not actually making much difference, and the side effects were causing more issues than they helped
I came off lots of medication as they were making me worse all under doc supervision. I still have my anti d and cocodamol. I’ve come of that before and it was horrible and I mean awful. The best way to come off them in my advice is weaning. I cold turkey it made me feel like an addict awful, pains , diahroah , can’t sleep restless legs , sweating. So if defo ask your doc mine are really good so don’t be afraid.
I took a high dose of Pregabalin and other painkillers morphine based and anti depressants along with various other meds I stupidly stopped taking my meds did not wean and I can honestly say had the worst experience from withdrawal I couldn’t get out of bed I was sweating, shaking, the most painful stomach pains, then vomiting and diarrhoea kicked in, then I started hallucinating this was for 4/5 days so please get advice, everyone is different and it’s not something I would want another human to experience, a withdrawal like that is truly awful. I should have weaned and been sensible and taken medical advice first.
Unfortunately I have had to go back on a few of the meds as they did me more good than I realised 😞🥰🐼
Hi I gradually weaned myself off Cocodamol and with advice from my GP also weaned off Gabapentin. I have found that I'm no worse now, the meds were not helping me at all. Now if my pain is bad I take a couple of Cocodamol and they do the trick, whereas when I was taking the full dose they didn't have any effect. I would have a word with your GP for advice.
I came off my meds a few years ago. I did it through a pain specialist over a period of about 6 months. Please speak to your doctor first.
I can't really feel much difference tbh but I do more exercise on the days that I can. I don't tolerate tablets very well and can't get to sleep and have terrible burning especially in my feet but reluctant to take tablets again... for now. Take care.
I came off amitriptylene about two years ago as they were affecting my eyes and increasing my heart rate; plus, the constant dry mouth. Took me 3 months and the side effects were bad especially the sleep deprivation. Still in pain every day which I had with the drugs but now its just me and a couple of paracetamol daily. Would I take drugs again? A definite NO!!! Take care
