I ve been on low fat diet forever and am awaiting a gastric bypass mmmmm I don't over eat I don't own a chip pan or deep fat frier, I have skimmed milk yup I should be a stick creature but no, I'm huge, this arrival made me think I started gaining weight as I stopped having auger in my drinks r butter on my bread when I was 18 n pregnant n although I dip in weight sometimes the increase is always higher. Going to stop dieting I think n start eating properly xxxxx

Hi,

I eat a very high fat diet, as I eat 50g to100g of nuts a day. I cook with coconut oil, which is so nice, I don't use sauces for stir fries, & it goes a long way. For me, eating clean food is the most important factor, ie, nothing processed, & getting organic food when I can. I won't eat artificial sweeteners or anything processed like margarine as our bodies don't digest this stuff in the same way as natural food.

I have increased my food intake by over half in the past year, as I've been taking meds for secondary hypothyroidism, which has been undiagnosed for nearly 40 years. The symptoms are almost identical to FM. Prior to this, I was fatter on 1000 calories a day, & would gain 3kg if I ate normally for four days if I went on holiday.

Try doing the Barnes basal body temperature test to check your thyroid function: ei-resource.org/home-self-t...

There's a lot more information on the Thyroid UK forum on here, if you're interested. Certain nutritional intake is very important for thyroid function, but I get most of this from food, & take only Vitamin D3 & iron supplements.

It night be a lot easier for you to take a hormone replacement than have an operation.

Hope that helps!
