Hi Shirley

Have you tried homeopathic remedies I don't know much about them myself but my uncle is a qualified practitioner in homeopathic treatment & reflexology he swears by it I could ask him what he would recommend if you like

Kind regards Katie 😊

Hi Shirley all my symptoms have been worse since the menopause struck. My GP recomended red clover capsules and they have helped, they are priced though. Make sure you check with your GP or pharmacist before you take any herbal remedies as some can interact with prescribed medications. Hope things improve for you soon. Take care ,  kath

Hi

It's funny you mentioned that, I my self had to come off HRT Nov 2014.

Had a big. Operation in March 2015 around May I started with theses pains in my arms shoulders feeling of heavyness weak exhausted all the time more than usual,

Pian in jaw only sometimes when eating sore scalp and had my eyes checked and they have gone down hill in 2 months.

They are not sure if I have Polymyalgia yet or GCA, I am just going though all the tests.

Having blood done tomorrow again ultrasound on joints on Thursday.

But it has gone though my mind this has all happened since I came off HRT.

I do know that the health food shops sell natural HRT might be worth a try but ask your doctor first, it's funny what interacts I had to come of Vitamin D 2 weeks before my operation.

Hope you get something to help.

Thank you, I am around sometime I just read  them if I think I can't help.

Plus all this weakness and  pian with my arms I don't write as much , my eye sites not as good either, waiting on hospital for that. Lol.

I'm have to laugh or I think I would cry.

Have a nice day if you can.

I think that's how most of us get through, we laugh or else we'd cry! I'm refusing to come off HRT at the moment. I've been on it since I was 28 as I had both ovaries removed. The thinking behind them has changed a bit and the oestrogen only pills don't increase your chances of cancer. Or at least that's this weeks theory lol. You haven't said why you've come off them, so would you consider asking to take them again? 🐸

Hi Sorebones I had to come off them for my operation last year but never got them back.

I have mentioned going back on them but my doctors was not happy as I had been on them 30 year and buy now I should have gone through the menapores.

I had everything removed because I had ovaren cancer.

I will go through all the checks and if nothing makes anything any better I will be insisting to get them back.

Thanks Glynis

You and me both! It's 27 years since my cancer. I have to fight to keep mine. The dr would take me off them in a minute but I've told her that I still need a sex life!! I'm in my 50's not dead. I'm on the lowest dose of Premarin, and the only reason I'm still allowed them is that I have agreed, that while my hubby is working abroad, that I will take one every other day. I tried being without them for a month and decided never again! Lol. Keep trying, it's worth it. We can't get cervical cancer can we lol 🐸

in reply toSorebones

Stay on it as long as you are allowed as HRT protects bones from osteoporosis. I used it for 18 years on a very low dose of Premique 0.3mg it kept the wolf from the door for me!

Try a homeopathic remedy called Black Cohosh, it has been really effective for many women, you can get it in health food shops and the large chemist chain which is also the name of winter footwear x

Hi Misty57

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcoem to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.

I do not know if this is of any use to you, but there are a list of patient booklets that you can read / download on the FMA UK website. I have pasted you a link:

Hi Shirley,

I used to go to a medical herbalist, rather than take weak OTC stuff which is hit & miss.

They will assess what will work best for you, & make sure you're not prescribed anything that is contraindicated with other health conditions & medication that you take.

nimh.org.uk/

Acupuncture is also  good, but again, go to someone who is properly qualified.

I take NDT for secondary hypothyroid symptoms, which has helped reduce my FM symptoms quite a lot.

Can I ask what NDT stands for? You have piqued my interest 🐸

BadHare profile image
BadHare in reply toSorebones

Natural dessicated thyroid.

Disgusting, but effective treatment for hypothyrodism, which is what most people with FM symptoms used to be treated for before it became normal to rely on an ineffective blood test, & huge quantities of synthetic drugs. Win for Big Pharma, as they make a lot of money out of us!

Not sure how well my HRT works as I still get occasional hot flashes but there are OTC things that work for some people. Cooked rhubarb did nothing for me - my internist recommended it! I would check with a certified herbalist

Hi

I have heard that soya helps with hot flushes etc. I have a soya yogurt every day.

You can get tablets though. Also evening primrose, star flower are supposed to help.

Any things worth a try.

Good luck.

Best wishes.

Hi I am going through the menopause and couldn't take HRT as I have Lupus amongst many other things. I was suffering crazy hot flushes and headaches that were lasting days. My doctor prescribed me Clonidine Hydrochloride. They have made a huge difference. Well worth a try. Good luck Tracie x

As fibrofog pop says...soya contains natural oestrogen... so since I started menopausal symptoms I have changed to soya milk on my porridge and in my tea. This seems to help me ,and has also had a good side effect... an increase in my chest size (which was flat before!!)  :)

Just what i could do with.

As a retired gynae nurse can I ask why you are still carrying fibroids and no surgery intervention? Where do you live? Manchester Royal- St Marys was my workplace and in theatres I watched very talented surgeons remove "ALLSORTS" from women incl fibroids. If you are scared of surgery then ask about a Mirena IUD fitted and read about how they help to stop fibroids growing, they also supress ovaries and so menopause symptoms should subside.. HRT is the best either on patches or oral. With all your illnesses a sympathetic gynaecologist would help you.. GO SEE ONE>>>

Hi

I have seen a gyro but they told me that I should come off hrt. That was the only help they offered me,  went back to my GP last week she told me hrt was womb cancer. I felt so much better In myself whilst on hrt. A lot of women use them I feel it's like scaremongering . I have started on the soya milk and hope that helps. Thanks for you reply.

Not sure where you live Hun  but you,ve got a crap gynae-sorry!Fibroids are easily removed these days, they are all shaped and sizes but mostly like lumps of hard grissle. to try to make it clearer have you bought spuds and you see little seeds growing off them after a while? they look like that but bigger..I have never seen a cancerous fibroid. HRT is not womb cancer ask for another gynae apt and ask them to try you with a low dose and list you for surgery to remove the fibroids, OR ask about a Mirena IUD fitted that will stop fibroids growing anymore. It supresses your ovaries and periods and pains will disappear but surgical removal AND a Mirena is best.. Good Luck

Lucky you, I'm stuck with mine plus an ovarian cyst ☹️

bantam12 profile image

I lost an ovary in my teens due to a massive cyst and had a ruptured one years later, I've seen several gynaes and none would consider surgery so I have yearly scans instead.
