Sunburn skin pain
Hi I get this so bad and I too find its the most debilitating, it's particularly worse when my anxiety is high. I've tried gabapentin and amitriptyline but it's seems to make it worse! I honestly thought I was the only one with this horrific feeling! I told my Dr that it feels like I've got the most awful raw sunburned skin that is being constantly scraped with sandpaper!!! It's just horrific and makes me cry most days and I can't keep still and heat makes it even worse. There's nothing to see on my skin, but it sure is driving me crazy! I'm sorry you are suffering with this sunburned skin feeling too. Sometimes aloe Vera gel can bring a little relief or cool clothing. If you'd like to chat than I'm always here to listen. Take care, sending you lots of strength, Amanda
Hi Amanda thanks for the reply yes it is awful I have tried Aloe vera gel and it helps for a few moments I have found the burning sensation has spread a bit from my back I now have a patch at the outside of my knee which sometimes burns also slightly in the top of my arms sometimes and on my neck a bit as well it definitely seems to be a lot worse with anxiety end because I anticipate getting it I think that doesn't help either I haven't been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I'm not sure I have it but I have been poorly for about 5 months now starting with low back pain and then all this up at back pain mostly on the right hand ribside ( I had some trigger point injections there but not sure they've done much ) strangely enough I have got a lots fitter and lost lots of weight and I do do lots of stretching exercises so my low back pain is gone it is just this upper back which drives me nuts and these horrible burning sensations , not sure whether this is due to the anxiety or what nobody has diagnosed me with fibromyalgia as I said I'd have been to the pain clinic and the doctor there talked about myofascial pain but not sure about that either just know I feel very low mood and have lost motivation to do a lot of things . I was prescribed duloxetine don't know if you saw my previous post which I still haven't taken because I am so scared of the effects of it have been trying holistic therapies but not a lot is working at the moment do you take any medication thank you hope to hear from you
I quite often have this on my back it is as though someone has poured boiling water over it. My OH says my skin feels red hot but you can't see any marks or redness, very strange. Doctor said it was a form of neuropathic pain which was coming from the nerve endings in my spine. I must say Pregablin has helped me, still get it but never to the extent I had before. Cooling gel is quite good for this but a cold flannel might help. If it persists a Lidocaine patch can sometimes calm things down. You both have my sympathy.x
Hi Rose wine thank you for your reply is that patch rather like a morphine patch is it quite potent
Much gentler you just have them on for 12 hours and then take it off. I have reacted badly to the adhesive in Butrans patches but this has never irritated my skin although it is much larger.Lidocaine Patch is a local anesthetic and it works by stopping nerves from transmitting painful impulses to the brain. I think Lidicaine is what dentist uses but not sure. i have never had any side effects from them and have been using them on and off for some years now. I believe they are quite expensive so my doctor would only give me a few packs but certainly worth asking about and giving them a try if it is possible.x
Sorry I haven't any answers. But I do know the sensation. Sending soft gentle Hugs.
Yes, I wouldn't worry. Just try to be calm and relax.
Maybe a herbal relaxant might help you stop feeling anxious? Or the CBD inhalers that others on the forum use.
Take care.
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are experiencing this, and it is not something that I personally suffer with. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I had this sensation, feeling like a "Chinese burn" if anyone remembers those? Much improved after getting B12 injections when my levels were found to be low.
Thanks for that I haven't heard my vitamin b 12 Count tested but I will ask for that ... Actually I am a vegetarian as well so could well be I think I did mention it to the GP awhile back and she said I didn't really need it but you know what they're like I am going to insist that they test me for it did you have the pains in any particular areas can you remember and do you still get them would be grateful for a reply thank you
It started on my arms, then legs, and my body too in places. My arms were the worst though. I don't notice it much now, only just before my next injection. Also if I'm stressed. Incidentally alcohol depletes B12 too. It is more likely to be an issue for you as you are vegetarian.
Thanks..I get it badly mostly on my upper back lately it has spread to sots on thigh and right calf a bit on shoulders and upper arms, I find it very debilitating and it stresses me more... I don't drink any alcohol...have been prescribed duloxetine, but scared to take it....are you on any anti depressant? Thank you MariLiz
I have it everyday. Moving down to my legs and arms now. Most severe on my back down to my waist.
