Has anyone got anything that helps with painful hands and wrists. Exercises? Support etc. I work in an office so spend a lot of time writing and typing, and have aching painful hands and wrists.

Painful hands
Try using gel mouse pad and gel wrist rests, it will help for a while but not permenately, also try to keep writing and / or typing to 15 minute bursts. Pain will always be there but those worked for me for a year or so. Hope someone else may have some ideas xx
I found the best thing for me was an Ergonomic keyboard which is a curved keyboard which is separated down the middle. If you talk to your manager about an ''Occupational Health Assessment'' work may provide you with something along these lines? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you

I have a sister (well more than one) but she used its a glove that acts as support. They are made for diabetics she just snipped the finger tips off.
I would ask for a gp referral to physio who can assess hand supports & exercises ..had you thought might be carpal tunnel .I have hand / wrist supports with exercises from physio to help with my RA / osteoarthritis ......every little helps
Hugs to all
I found the gel supports a help. Ask for a work station assessment . Good luck xx
I used to do the work station assessments and there are several things you can do. I also suffered with painful fingers and wrists.
Ask for an assessment. In addition to gel wrist rests you can also get ones filled with polystyrene beads which I found better. I used the mouse rest as a sort of stress ball to exercise my fingers every hour or so.
It is also possible to get an ergonomic mouse. There are several different types.
Try fingerless arthritis gloves too ( available from our favourite online store).
Please pm me if you would like more help.
Kind regards
Jane
I use wrist splints that I got for carpal tunnel they have plastic running through them t prevent the wrist bending they work for me but I only use them on bad days as they weaken the wrist if you have em on too long lol I did a week once lol xxxxx
Hello.
The only thing that helps me is resting them. I can't knit for an hour anymore and need to rest my arms all the time. Sorry can't be of help.

Get yourself a good wrist support. It makes a difference to pain in both hands and wrists. I got them online, from the A site (as I can't say the full name). Get ones for carpal tunnel. Make sure there is a rigid plate that goes down the palm side of your hands.
Might be a good idea to check with your GP if you do have problems with your carpal tunnels.
I still use mine for using my laptop, or longer sessions on my tablet. Certainly can't colour without them. Hope you manage to get some relief soon 🐸
the Arthritis compression gloves work so well for me, worth a try along with some of the other ideas

xx
I do hope that you find something to help.
I have wrist splints which are rigid and don't enable me to type ar write. I've also tried quite expensive compression gloves from A***** which really were of little help.
Occupational health is probably the best way to go
use Epsom salts in warm water this helps me
Try wrapping with ace bandage at night leaving on until morning (if you can). My OH has done his knee on several occasions and it did help.Good luck.Peck ☺
I have osteo and fibro and I get a lot of pain in the thumb part close the palm- hope it makes sense...
I have a variety of multiple gloves that I bought
on eBay or Amazon and they're under arthritis, gardening or craft. I use them when my hands get really bad as well as splints but not too tight to cut circulation.
For me it's really about keeping them warm that I think helps and I can't type with splints so means - forced rest!
I also have a variety of different creams I put on that I think help. I find if I wear the gloves at night, they're better in the morning.
My physio also said that the pain on the spongy bit on my thumb can be massaged so I get massages and also use a tennis or similar myself and press hard!
I had carporal tunnel op but not much difference TBH. I type in short bursts but not for work so I can rest often.
Some kind of support or splint sounds good as others have said.

I find wearing wrist splints helps. If I don't wear them during the day, my hands are very sore the day after. I also use a wax bath and ice baths occassionally. I did get compression gloves to wear at night but they made me worse. I am very lucky that my job allows me to vary my actions so I don't have to type or write for any length of time.
