My wrists hurt too and my thumb and some fingers. Doc said it wasn't carpal tunnel so no splints. I think they would help with the pain in my wrists.

Oh Sueuk
Even on my brilliant days, my writs are in agony. I can wake up with my wrists in agony, like all my weight had been on them bent all night. I bought sport splint-type supports and if they are really bad I put them on, especially when driving. They do help but can get rather sweaty.
Hi, my wrists have been very painful just recently, they really ache at times right up to my elbows, but i find that my left wrist and arm is more painful and even swollen. I get shooting pain into them too which really catch me off guard.
I started getting very painful wrists after I started using walking sticks. Carpal tunnel syndrome was the result, and I had surgery to on both hands to correct this. However, my wrists and the base of my thumb are still painful, as I have osteoarthritis in my hands too. My occupational therapist gave me thumb restriction splints to wear and these have helped enormously. I put them on whenever the pain flares up and also try to wear them for at least a couple of hours every day as I find this prevents the pain from becoming unmanageable.
I asked my doc about a wrist support for my wrists but she didn't want me to have the OT one because that would keep my wrist dead straight, like she wanted me to bend it. Anyway she suggested using a wrist support like tennis players use. I got two and use them all the time, I can still move my wrists but it helps with the pain and supports my wrist. You can get them from a place called Home Bargains in the UK or maybe a sports shop like JJB, JD Sports or a good chemist like boots. Mine are blue, they have velcro fastening too. I don't like the pain that we are all suffering. Anytime I feel that it's too muvh for me, I always think of my motto "It could be worse" I'm just glad that we got support from one another, big hugs much love xxx
