i keep a heating pad on my back. it's long enough to go from my neck to lower back. noticed my shoulders looked a bit brownish. it' now been there for more than a year (that i'm aware of). it's not red and it rarely hurts. my husband swears it's my heating pad. i'm not sure what it is. any thoughts?

Do you put your heating pad on over your clothes or next to your skin? My heating pad is brown and I am wondering if where you press against it perhaps when you lean back on your chair and sweat a bit because of the heat some dye is transferring?

Of course if you are at all worried there could be another reason it could be best to get it checked out.x

Hi there

I have a brown mottled mark across my lower back that I was quite concerned about. I mentioned it to my GP and he had a look and said that I had burned my back by using hot water bottles that were too hot.

Unfortunately mine has never gone away, but it's not exactly in a place where everyone sees it 😊

However, if you are at all concerned, as Rosewine says, it is much better to get the reassurance of your GP.

Wishing you wellness and peace

Lu xx

I am so genuinely sorry to read this and I have not come across anything like this before? I would be tempted to talk to your doctor about it just to make sure it is nothing that needs treatment? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I am with painful pixie, mine is mottled and burnt, but I have no other way of easing pain after walking.

Have you tried tens as well as heat pad, I kind of find it helps spasms but not pain. As mine seems to be deep. But some on here swear by it and use it all the time, and it helps them, also Actipatch, which do a free 72 HR trial. I can't put the link up as against rules on here. But if you look it up, you can get a free trial and if it works cost about £20 I think. If you can't find it , message me personally and I will send you the link. Take care.x

thanks for the advise. i tried a tens several years ago. not much help plus need my husband to put it on and take it off. hate asking him for more help when he does so much so it's packed away. i have patches similar to actipatch-they have lidoderm in them. odd, never put them on my back but do on my neck, or lower back, my feet, ankles, and under my ribs.
