Hi everyone. I have a question, a little over a week ago I had a filling and have had almost constant tooth ache since. I am on antibiotics for a few days and have to go back if it's still there. Does anyone else experience pain for a while after a filling or could this be something else?

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I would go back and discuss this with them? It is not something that I have suffered with, and toothache is awful. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.
Hi, yes I also have had a lot of pain after dental work. Recently Iv had abscesses and had to have teeth taken out. Iv been with the dentist over 20 years and he really tries hard to minimise the pain. But it still took 5 months for the pain to subside after tooth taken out. The last two fillings I had he did not drill at all, just cleaned out the cavity and used temporary filling, which didn't require any pressure or tools. So far so good.
Hi I wouldn't have thought this was right, unless you have infection, it may mean you need a route canal , I am not a dentist so just guessing, I would go back and see your dentist, poor you Toothache ouch .
I wish you better Hun hope you get it sorted soon.xx
Yes I usually have more pain after a filling than before, so you are not alone. Sometimes I'm not aware I need a filling as my mouth is in as much pain as the rest of me & sometimes it comes and goes. My dentist looks at with an obvious loss of what to do, she does an xray if Im in pain but nothing has changed. It can take a while to settle down.
Keep an eye on it, get it checked out if you are worried just in case
Hello, I constantly have pain after any dental treatment which can last a week or so for minor work (just the use of tools in a check-up) to months for fillings, etc. I use a sensitive toothpaste to lessen the impact and usually find that with time it does lessen/ dissapear - just in time for the next check-up! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2014 but had been prescribed pregablin in 2009 following the diagnosis of Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome after an accident, this was then exacerbated by further accidents (none of which were my fault - just unlucky!) The pregablin acts to reduce the feeling of crawling red hot ants and being stabbed with hot knives but does not remove the constant pain and severe muscle spasms. It is as though my body remembers any pain so I just have to find ways of relaxing into it or just coping.
Thanks everyone. I went back on Friday just gone and she done another X-ray, she said it sounds like nerve damage but the filling doesn't go down far enough, there's still loads of tooth there before the nerve. She doesn't know I have fibromyalgia. I really hope I don't have to have root canel, I just couldn't go through with it, I have to stop every time just for a filling. Ahhh!xx
I'm terrified of the dentist so can sympathise with you. If you are having a similar problem ask if you can have IV sedation before a procedure. It's wonderful! You don't remember a thing! I can now sit in the chair without shaking so much that I nearly fall off 🐸
