That's downright ridiculous. I live in Doncaster and would not be able to make it to the city center for that time never mind Stockport!!
If you have a number on the letter I would call them and explain and if necessary request a home assessment.
Good luck

Yes it is ridiculous but dizzytwo is right.
I know that you can call up and ask for a closer centre and ask for a later appointment.
Please give it a try as you have nothing to lose
Good luck

I am so genuinely sorry to read that and I would ring up and explain the situation to them. I want to sincerely wish your family member all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you

We have home assements in Wales , I think there taking the xxxxx .
Get a disability advocate or CAB and GP on to it .
I have no idea how far this is for you but I am 1 hour from Hereford 11/2 hours Wrexham or Cardiff if that is any help.
Hugs shadow.
I can't do early starts especially when I pain ....a phone call and appointment changed till 11
When I got there and explained in person assessor said she could manage her own time and I could have had an afternoon appointment
Wishing you a positive outcome 😊
So glad to hear you have an appointment near to home. I hope you managed to get a later time of day too. Good luck with your assessment.

Hello goldilocks54, tell your family member to ring the office on the letter and inform them that the stockport address is beyond her travel limit. Explain that there must be a nearer address that she could attend, or if her ability to travel is very limited, than she can ask for a home appointment, don't leave this too long, as they are on a schedule to work through, sad for them and the human element is very inconvenient for them, nonhumans.
There are offices for these assessments usually near or attached to dwp main centres.
They will have asked for details of where she could attend, and other things on the forms. The phone call can hopefully get things sorted out to a better time and place, even a home visit.
Good luck and let us know, ttfn from Karen.
