pip assessment
The name of your illnesses and the number of illnesses that you have means very little when it comes to benefits. What they take the most notice of is how it affects you.
Some people with arthritis for example can walk the distance, while another with exactly the same illness will be unable to get out of bed.
What you must do is to make sure that you tell them exactly what you cant do on a BAD day. It might help to write it all out
'in the form of a list, Remember, Fibromyalgia is classed as a debilitating illness so dont make light of it to them or anyone else
Has your brother in law appealed the desision. I think that the CAB may help you both.

hi i am not making light of fybromyagia as suffer from it myself as it says in the post near the end. and my brother inlaw cant walk 50 yards or meters and needs help with washing ect. he was given inhanced rate in both parts.a few months ago nothing has change since then apart from the assessor lying in hes report on several things. he has made a mandatry concideration. thanks mac100
Sorry if i put the bit about not making light of fibro in a bit skwifted in the meaning. what i meant was that it is too easy to understate how bad things are, especialy when its what we are used to doing. putting on a brave face becomes second nature to us.
I went to a tribunal to ask for care alowence as i cant go out on my own.
Not only did they not give me the care they also dropped my mobility from enhanced to standard.
I am waiting at the moment for the judge to send me a`statement of reason` as to why, and what i can do next
I will get it back sooner or later because i know that i am entitled to it. Not only can i not walk 20 mtrs even if i did it would be slower that half the walking speed of someone who has no impairment and that makes me entitled.

thanks sue. good luck
I'm sorry to hear re brother in law , as for yourself keep positive , I've just got my pip result and I got it so it depends who you get etc . Think of how you feel on worse day and tell them about that . I have a few other conditions , fibro, depression , arthritus , bursitis etc . Please keep positive xx
Hi maco100
I am so genuinely sorry to read that and please let your brother in law know that he can ask for a mandatory reconsideration. I have pasted you a link below for this:
GOV.UK - Mandatory Reconsideration:
gov.uk/search?q=mandatory+r...
If this fails, he can go to an appeal. I have also pasted you the appeals link below:
GOV.UK - Appeals:
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you both the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Thankyou ken
I read somewhere - but hope it's just a rumour - that they are refusing a lot of claims and waiting to see if that person 'can be bothered' to appeal - if they don't appeal then they're 'not really that ill' - in their eyes, that is. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was quite close to the truth. Apply and if you get turned down appeal and keep appealing. From what I've read on these forums you have to be patient and also really lay it on about your worst days. I really hope your brother-in-law can get the benefits he obviously deserves.
Benefitsandwork.co.uk is supposed to be a good website. Also fighback4justic.co.uk.
Good luck x
