Hi all, I have just been given Duloxetine. Does anyone else take it, or may have tried it. How do/did you get on with it?

Hi timtam, I take 60mg in the evening and have done for 18mths now. It has really helped with my mood and moderately for pain relief. It took a few months to get used to for me. Hope you find it helpful.😊

I tried it and it did nothing for me at all unfortunately. Everyone is different so I hope it works for you :)

Hi timtam, I don't take it myself, but I have read of several members on here who have found it very useful.

I hope it works well for you and I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way 😀

Yes me it's really good with neurotrophic pain and bladder issues. It I must admit not helped with sleep issues , but I can take a shower without feeling like a thousand small nails or shattered glass were hitting my skin , it hasn't helped with my feelings of being overwhelmed, to be honest and I have been put up to 120 mg , I started on 60 18 months ago , and was put up to 90 year last August but yesterday was put up 120 .

Good luck

Chris

Thanks everyone. Glad I'm not hearing about horrid side effects. I have a real problem with intolerance to medication. I just hope this one works for me.

Hi timtam

I too have an intolerance to medication but find that this one suits me fine. I take it in the morning however as when taking in the evening found that it kept me awake at night.

I feel more "myself" and unless having a particularly bad flare find that it helps with pain and discomfort during the day. I definitely feel more awake and alert during the day.

I take 60 mg a day.

One of the positive side effects for me has been that I rarely now have irritable bowel syndrome which was becoming and embarrassing problem.

I agree with Shadows-walker though - I still do have sleep issues :-(

Other than that, I can't think of any side effects that would concern me and believe me that is good for me as I am so limited with medications I can take.

Please do let me know how you get on.

All the best

Jane

I started on 30mg last Tuesday and it has really helped with my energy levels.

However i've really struggled to sleep since starting it so would recommend taking it in the morning like Angelseven suggested. It's also given me permanent nausea and loss of appetite, but these are getting better so it's worth sticking with it if you have problems at first

I’m afraid I’m on the negative side for Duloxetine. My nick name for it is Spawn of the Devil.

I was on it for 18 months and still had pain, deep depression, anger issues, headaches, titchy skin and it felt like my ribs fluttered.

Starting at 60mg I came down 5mg every month and had a tough time for a couple of weeks before I settled out. If I had a big event to attend I would not drop for that month to see me through and pick up again the next month with a 5mg drop.

I got to 10mg total and went to see my GP for advice to go to zero. His reply was don’t do it. Why I asked? Don’t do it. That is no answer as I need to know why and when pushed he said that I would commit suicide. I had a very tough time for a number of months and came close to ending it all and had emergency meetings with the intervention team. I went to a live in pain clinic for a month but left after three weeks. I just couldn’t stand it anymore.

I survived but it was a hard journey. Not recommended.
