I'm pretty sure the answer to your question is no. Your claim date starts on the date that the DWP receive your form as far as I am aware.
Your best bet is to double check with the CAB.
Someone else on the forum may know for certain.

No. I agree with Blue.
If you give them a good reason for not applying before they may backdate. You may have to provide proofs to back it up but it is worth asking. I claimed in Dec 14 and asked for backdating to Oct 14 because my employer was deducting the money from my sick pay that I would have got if I claimed esa. DWP backdated it without question. No they will only pay your claim from the date that you submitted the claim providing that the time from posting to them receiving is acceptable !
