Hi all I recently have been suffering from jaw pain. I know it's not dental because I was only at the dentist last week and my teeth were all ok. Anyone else suffer from this. Just when I think the pain can't get any worse along comes another symptom grrr. Gentle hugs all xx

I am so genuinely sorry to read that and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. It is not something that I suffer with, and I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi Shelley 😊

You have my full understanding and empathy, I suffer with TMD which sounds very similar to what you are describing, and is a symptom not uncommon in people with fibro, though I would suggest strongly that you discuss this with your GP or your dentist. The pain is not emanating from the actual teeth, though it can feel very much like it could be, it is actually coming from the jaw itself . Only a doctor or dentist can give you a proper diagnosis on this though, so I do recommend you get to see one or other very soon.

sending positive healing vibes your way 😀

Yup, I had a painful tooth- my dentist examined it, took X-rays but found nothing. He asked if I grind my teeth or clench my jaw- well, more now since these other symptoms started- so related to everything else going on!

Thanks all for your replies, will get it checked out but yeah it seems to be coming from my jaw rather than my teeth. 😀

I have the same sort of thing and a few months ago was diagnosed the best thing that I was offered and was strongly recommended was a night card as that minimise the clenching and further damage my dentist was more than happy to make me one. Hope that might help love chris

I would recommend a TMJ specialist, even to make a night guard. Doctors and general dentists know limited amount about it. I was handed a guard thru the nhs and the material it was made from encourages you to chew on it! If you look on the internet you can find jaw exercises that help. Good luck x

Yes, I have had it, but not at the moment. The pain was so bad I went to the dentist and pleaded with him to take the last upper right tooth out - he did but said as he had thought there was nothing at all wrong with it! The pain progressed all along my top jaw and it felt like someone was playing the piano on my teeth. Horrible. I'm sure it was the fibro because it eventually went away. What with recently having a double mastectomy and radiotherapy et al, together with the fibro I don't really know whether I am coming or going and sleep for 12-13 hours at a time. I don't bother with seeing a GP as it is all too much effort, I never see the same doctor twice, and they only look on their computer to see what I was in for last. They usually give me some tablets based on the particular problem I have presented with and say come back if it doesn't get better. Well, of course, it does get better because of the very fact that whatever it is decides to move somewhere else! Everything is a complete waste of time, but luckily I worked 52 years before letting the b*gger win, so I suppose it doesn't really matter that I am unable to function now, and can take all the pills and the wonderful Ibuprofen Gel (I don't know what I would do without the Gel) and just sleep my life away! Anyway, back to the jaw, just put up with it, and the pain will eventually go away to reappear somewhere else, and don't bother the GP as s/he won't be able to do anything useful!

Hi. I also get a pain in my jaw, it just feels tender like it's bruised. I visited a fibro site and it's not unusual to get jaw pain with with the dreaded fibro. Good luck 😃

Hi, I get pain which is really quite sore mainly in my upper gums.at the front teeth my dentist can't find anything wrong but gave me Difflam mouthwash which numbs it and makes it much less painful.

Hi yes, have this dentist asked me if I wanted to try mouth guard as would also help with migraines. It lessened jaw pain and migraines so was very happy.
