Hello everyone. Just thought I would share with you all. Had my PIP assessment 3 weeks ago. Got a letter Saturday to say I am not eligible for PIP. From what I can gather, because I can feed myself, dress myself, and go to the toilet by myself. They don't take account of how long it takes to do these tasks.
Because I can walk 50 -100 yards without support, I am deemed mobile enough. Regardless of the fact that if I walk 100 yards, I then struggle to walk 100 back. And for the rest of the day and following day, can barely walk at all.
I cant work because of Fibro fog. Cannot concentrate or focus. But I can no longer claim job seekers, and don't know what else to do.
In a very black place at the moment. Cannot even see the point of getting out of bed in the morning. The only thing keeping me going at the moment is my Sons upcoming wedding at the end of August.
Don't know what I will do after that??
Thanks for reading my rant. Gentle hugs to you all
Manda

Have you applied for ESA?.....totally separate from PIP and different process. The PIP form does ask for info on 'side effect from carrying out an activity' and about 'if you can do it but it takes you a long time'...be interested to know what you put on your form about these aspects which are so central to the problems of living with Fibro. I empathise with you over this. Did you get help from eg CAB to complete your forms? Government benefits are great.....If you can get them.
Are you going to appeal on your decision? You have every right to. As stumpedok has said it is preferable to get help filling in these very long and complicated forms.
If you go to the CAB they will be able to run a benefits check for you so that you can find out what you can claim.
I'm glad you have your son's wedding to look forward to.
Rant away whenever you need to. We are all here to help and support each other.
Hi, Im sorry you were turned down for PIP but please dont give up. Did you get help & advice with filling in the pip form? Did you send in any evidence to support your claim? I would seek out some professional advice then perhaps you can ask for your claim to be looked at again. As stumpedok has said, if you havent already applied, if i were you i would also apply for ESA, but please get advice & help with filling out the assessment form. Keep you chin up, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. xx
Appeal it! Next time described your worst day. Keep a pain journal. If foggy day put that in. Keep notes and record meeting. Don't let this get you down. Hugs and hope all gets better.
Manda don't give up as you have so much to look forward to. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Think of sons wedding and then perhaps if you are lucky gorgeous grandchildren that would certainly get me out of bed.
You must appeal against the decision it is amazing how many people win their cases. I know fibro is a strange illness and not as straighforward as some to try to get benefits for as it is often so fluctuating but as long as you fulfill the criteria required for the majority of time you should be able to get an award. If you can get some expert help from an organisation like the CAB as appealing a decision needs all the help you can get to do it effectively.
Please let us know how you are doing and how the wedding day goes. Chin up chuck we are all rooting for you.x
Hi I am fighting my pip assessment at moment ,check out my post from before don't give up ,go look up disabilities advocate in your area , speak to Emma and Janet here , you can appeal it's not easy but get advise do you use a stick to walk or crutch ? They ask trick questions go see CAB I wish you well ,keep coming back here it helps.
And you haven't ranted you have expressed your distress to your friend who understand.
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you failed in your claim for PIP, and as the others have said it may be worth going to appeal. I have pasted you a link about the ESA benefit that has been mentioned in your replies as this may be worth applying for?
very sorry to hear this .you should appeal their decision as soon as possible send a doctors note with your mandatory appeal to the relevant dept which should be on the letter you recieved everyone knows the one size fits all test is not fit for purpose .so please dont feel bad. contact your nearest citizens advice as soon as you can as they can help you through the appeals process. good luck.
