As though you had an electric shock that numbs feeling then takes time working out how limbs move afterwards. The electric shock sensation is a sharp stabbing sensation at the area which twitches/ jumps/spasms, affecting surrounding area with numbing paralysis that lasts longer with larger shock sensations.

No its not like that its a pain and sensation is hard to describe its lower back pain that runs across and down my right leg and the feeling like my lower back won't move its tight sore and very scary

I get a similar feeling from time to time, usually if I am overdoing it. Sometimes it is my upper back and others between my waist and thighs. The only thing I have found to be of any help is heat applied directly to the area that is in spasm.

Perhaps a hot shower would help it ease sooner, once you are mobile enough to get there.

I have had same as you for last 3 days. my legs aren't strong enough to hold my body up. pain is across my lower back and shoots down both legs when I move. get to the loo very slowly with aid of 2 walking sticks. agony and don't know what to do. is this to do with fibro or what? never had it before and haven't done anything to bring it on. what should I do? tried Pain killers, ibuprofen gel and heat, nothing works. this morning even sitting down hurts. in bed is ok.

Have you over exercised or twisted incorrectly pulling muscles or at worst popping a disc. What did the doc say, did he order X-rays or deep scanns, because this can be many things for one person to another, but in my case they describe it as radatating to the left and I have a mix of disc damage some have collapsed BUT this needs in your case propped investagation I have and can be a bit of a o that's me when I read or see programmes I would say keep going back to doctor as it can be sorted doing mild to full on palates exercises as I describe our body's as needing little and often in every thing to keep us not on top but in the middle try lying on your back knees bent and rocking legs from left to right, sliding left then right leg down level to the carpet from bent possition 10 times pause for 5 in bent up middle. Then hold muscle in and pelvic floor for a count of 10 building up to 30 then relaxing for 10 thru out the day and nite. Another exercise is to stand bend legs and rock your hips back and forth now I was told to do this when ever I had pain even in supermarket but I said being a male I would be arrested for gross indecencey so psyo said ware a loose rain coat it got worse in my head but well I in reallity did it out of site but it helps after being in a very active job running around on a production line lifting and throwing this helped 100% even though I am on pain nerve and depression tablets, cutting out sugar completely got rid of acid problems in my tummy too this combined helped me loose weight too this should all come from your doctor and a physiotherapist all quallified to propperly advise you it could be simply fallen arches in your feet this rendered by swapping round shooes untill a pair of inserts can and in my case were bought causing a simple bend in the foot to make a massive difference any way good luck and hope this helps at least some one out but doctors and specialists knows best it took them 5 yrs to scan my lower back and my gut feelings were 100% right as we know what and where our pains hurt the most I really hope it's not hip and ball joint wear too

Hi shazz66 :)

I experience something similar to you and as Lruk suggests applying a heat pad or something similar may help to ease it. I have had spasm problems in my back for 2 years now and had an attack of it just the other day. The pain is awful :(

I use Voltarol (stronger strength) that I get on prescription on mine when it kicks in but I don't know whether you are allowed to use it because of the difference between us re: medications and other illnesses etc. I also take 150mgmg 3X daily Pregabalin to help reduce the spasms I get.

It may be a good idea to go and have a chat with your GP about this especially if it something new that you've just started to experience. It could be anything or nothing but best to get it checked it out. Together you and your doc will be able to decide what to do about it such as a possible x-ray for instance to rule out things or to see if there is a problem, maybe you have over-stretched and trapped a nerve and caused sciatica. Anyhoo! peace of mind is always a good way forward and there could be a simple solution to help ease it :)

Sending you healing fluffies and hope the doc can help you {{{{{{ shazz }}}}}} :)

xxx sian :)

Thank you. I will see what I can do when I feel a bit stronger. I know I have not over exercised or pulled a muscle - I think it is probably just another nasty bit of fibro I have not experienced before! I was diagnosed with 14 of the 18 trigger points so perhaps this is one/two they did not find and that it moves somewhere else soon!

I have had two bouts of this in the last year each lasting for three days and trapping me upstairs as unfortunately we only have an upstairs loo and the stairs were a definate "no no". Each time as mysteriously as these absolutely terrible pains and stiffness came they eased and went back to the normal pain levels, not good but alot better than when having one of these bouts. Hope it eases for you soon,x

Shaz I really think these episodes are happening much too often and I think you should see your GP even if only to have other than fibro ruled out. Let us know how you are doing.x

Hi shazz66,

Glad to hear you're seeing your GP. It's really important that you get this sorted as soon as possible.

Whatever you do, don't let them fob you off with 'it's just your fibro' playing up or the 'you've been overdoing it and not pacing yourself' talk. I went through something similar and as everyone on the forum now knows, I eventually discovered after fighting for an MRI that I've got a bad problem with my spine and having an open back operation soon to correct so...

Hope all goes well. Write down exactly how it feels as you have here and discuss the symptoms with your doctor. Do let us know how you get on and on the day of your appointment, try to avoid taking any pain meds so that they can actually see for themselves how it affects you.

Finally, be prepared for the 'how does it feel when you walk, stand, sit, questions' as well as the 'what makes it feel better' and what positions make it feel worse questions so you're prepared with your answers.

All the very best. Sending you loads of positive vibes to help you get through this.

Hi shaz66

I get terrible spasms in my back I can't bend down without getting this. It's excruciating and had me in tears to.you can't walk far as it can last for days. I think I'm at the end of a bad flare up I couldn't walk any where and had to go in a wheel chair. I can't walk my dogs or do my garden,I have to sit back and itch to help my husband in the garden or Hoover. It's been so bad I wished I didn't wake up again the only thing I have to look forward to is pain, pain and more pain But that's selfish my husband works hard for the two of us and never moans. I couldn't live without him he's my rock, my soul mate and best friend. So I'm a lucky lady.

Sorry it's a long post but I can't sleep tonight .hope your fast asleep.

Night night all fellow fibro sufferers. 🌜💤
