I hope you can research the pros and cons before you do it, including potential adverse effects and find the right way forward. I can only say, I did a quick search what it was about and found an oxford rheumatology journal report on a study with 110 patients where the adverse effects with 44 were such that they had to stop.

Best wishes,

Barb

The doctor talked me through it and I looked it up. He said he had taken this route with alot of patients and it was mainly good . Lets hope so. I am willing to try anything at the moment. Thanx

hello juliekp

I'm not sure if they do lignocaine infusions here same as where you are ? I'm Midlands in the UK

May I ask where roughly are you ?

Anyway I had 3 so far number 4 due in April

lidocaine is lignocaine near enough I THINK PLEASE CHECK

So most importantly is do as youR told I felt fine after my first one was told 48 hrs rest complete rest and I decided unintentionally to do some weeding however I did so much I could nt move and had to be rescued and the infusion did nt work AFTER THAT

So attempt 2 they put a cannula into a vien connect you to a pump you have a bed or cosy chair and a nurse nearby you have blood pressure CUFF, blood oxygen meter and heart monitor taking reading every 5 minutes that's worse bit ! they tell you what to look out for and you would get sign before any of the machinary so speak up or buzz they can stop the infusion and restart if it something simple or just stop completely .mine goes through in an hour I then get a nice cuppa THEN collected taken home straight to bed and rest for 48 hour and I find the infusion so great .i sleep really well after and it reduces my knee pain but they say it can take 10 days to work it's always different but noticed my ankles burn with pain for a week or so but you forget a lot but I'm done every four months . Now they did mention a drug to me that if the infusions work they would try me on it as it works like the infusion but not licensed here I think it's called Savella can't remember the other name so I'm really hoping .I was scared stiff and in my case I had excellent care as anaesthetist consultant also do pain clinic they do the infusions in between theatre list so I am in recovery and there are plenty of staff but please No gardening it's worth resting as it just did nt work after I overloaded it .

It would be good to here how yours is done and if it helps

Hope to talk again

Take care

Hi, I have also had a lidocaine infusion. Unfortunately it had no effect for me. but I personally had no problems either during or after but as others have said some people do. The Consultant was very clear with me about the fact that the chances of it working for me were low but thought worth a try. I think for me it was definitely worth trying but feel it was good for me to be positive but also realistic, as different things work for different people so just need to keep searching until you find something that helps (which I am still doing). I wish you the best of luck with whatever you do:)
