I've had a really bad week this week, as a few people know from my last blog post. Well I phoned the pain clinic to arrange an appointment with my nurse, the receptionist said the next available date is MARCH! I couldn't believe it, I feel so deflated and cannot even picture when I'll be like in March |-)
Is this common? Have any others had this problem? Any ideas? - I already begged her to try and fit me in, even if it was for 15 minuted but she said she has nothing!

I was diagnosed with fibro last October,I then had to wait until February to see pain management then I was put on a fibro support group at the hospital,so basically it was 4 months for appointment at P.M and 8 months to get onto support group,so yes there is a frustrating long wait! You could ask them to have your phone number on record so if there is a cancellation they could call you,I hope that answers your question, good luck.
Aw that is terribly long! I have been to the pain clinic several times before so I thought it would be no problem getting another appointment, obviously not!
Thanks for you message, I think I'll phone and ask them to phone if any cancellations! On a better note, my GP has been great, even tho she's seen me so many times in the last few weeks!
Iv spent the day on the sofa, with fluffy throw and hot water bottle, only surfacing to make more tea and chatting to fellow bloggers!my support group yesterday we talked about being kind to yourself,so I was today, instead of trying to catch up with jobs, and I'm not going to make myself guilty about doin nothing!i hope you've had an ok day,I know it's hard!think you should ring like I said,at least you know you've done at least something,it's good you have a supportive doc, that helps
I had to wait for many months , that was after I got the referal letter etc, only to be told that was to be put on the waiting list - for the waiting list! I couldn't believe it!
When the big day came, it was a huge let down but afterwards I was told that I can see a nurse led acupuncture clinic, so I eagerly accepted, but there is an expected 6 month wait for that!!!!
Aw that's sound terrible, wonder why it's so long, must be so many people using the service?! I've had a few appointments and treatments now, that's why I was hoping to get an appointment a bit quicker than I had go before
Jessam not too sure what they do i think they can provide stronger meds ??an to teach you how to deal with the pain ,i am paying for acupuncture myself just been for 2 sessions an my arm pain has gone then maybe that's because i have severe back pain lol its moved doc thought maybe i had shingles either that or trapped nerve the pain is awful been nearly 2 weeks now will let you know how the acupuncture goes take care
Yeah that is what they do but I was at the doctors the other day since I couldn't get an appointment and they prescribed morphine which is rather strong, so spose I can just go there now!
Oh I've only tried acupuncture once, about 9 years ago after I broke my leg! How do you find it? Is it uncomfortable?
I've been a few times now, they can offer a mix of treatments like painkillers, muscle relaxants etc. but also alternative treatments like physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, TENS machines and pain management courses.
I went on the pain management course, it lasted for 6 weeks and covered things like pacing, managing your time, identifying your strengths and weaknesses and relaxation. I really enjoyed it and it I've used a few things I learned on the course!
Overall they have been really helpful but I'm just a bit disappointed about the time length it takes to get another appointment, does not help being sore now!
