My Sister in law has MS my Brother works full time she has carers allowance and uses it to pay for help to visit daily. I get it because I am my husbands carer. Someone will know much more about all this I am sure. Lou xx

You can find a lot of information on GOV.UK also the Citizens Advice Bureau can help you with information and the form filling. They have helped me a lot, it's no charge and they are friendly and discreet, just ring for an appointment giving the outline of your problem and what to take to them, that easy.

It sounds like you qualify for a Carer's Allowance going by the benefits you are claiming, so it is worth a try.

Hi nikk1975

I do not actually know myself but I have pasted you a link to the GOV.UK page on Eligibility for Carers Allowance So I hope that you find this useful:

I want to wish you all the best of luck if you go ahead and make a claim.

Take care

Hi there. My patner claims carers allowance. You can get it if the carer is working. You also get it backdated so please claim as soon as possible. Hope this helps. Take care.

To get carers allowance you have to care for the person for the person for 35hrs a week or more and you have to be claiming a qualifying benefit and you must be getting the benefit before you can apply for carers allowance .
