Carers allowance
No you can't get both but you do get a top up if the pension is less than the allowance. The carers allowance is for when someone has to stop work to look after someone who is sick.

No. It's not right. My parents 88 and 90 get carers allowance for looking after each other. My mum is registered blind and my dad can't stand any more. Look into it 🐸
May I suggest asking for advice at your local advice centre
Best wishes
No it isn't right but the rules state that if you are in receipt of a state benefit such as State Retirement Pension which is greater than the amount of the Carer's Allowance you cannot receive both. Even though the Carer's Allowance stop you still get what is called the "underlying entitlement to benefit" which often means when benefit entitlement is worked out you might get an extra allowance. It is rather complex so get advice.
Others have given you brilliant advice as it is definately worth having a full benefit check just in case. Best of luck with it.x
