Hi I have just had to make my first claim for esa my sick pay ran out at work and was told to claim so I did. I got letter today saying that I was gonna get 73.10 however I claimed as a couple I get the higher rate pip both elements I called the benefits where I questioned the payment for a single person she said that we will not get paid as a couple until I have done my assessment I could not understand this she said the claim is for a couple but I should have my partner claim Carers Allowance so on her advise we have done an on line claim but now I’m starting to wonder if this was a good idea they have said my claim in contribution based can any one give me some advise please
