Hi fibro10. I am just having to resign myself to the fact that things I used to find easy are now sometimes a challenge.

I tend to view the tear here instructions that I will need scissors, sometimes a knife or take whatever it is to a neighbour. I also have a daily tussle with my and my husbands pill packets and bottles this can leave me in the most ridiculous amount of pain I don't think we are alone with this problem. Lou xx

My main problem with bottles is that my fingers lock when I try to open the bottle (very painful)!

Hi there from what I read your ME and not fibro im not so sure how close they are but we all have symptoms and sometimes the are worth knowing so as to avoid a flare. So sometimes its good to note what is linked with the symptom etc. . Im really with you, this can be really mind boggling at times things that are so normal and easy suddenly become yet another little thing to do differently, Well hope your all good and ready for your day if not take it easy and be kind to yourself that can help to .

I cant use a tin opener and have had to buy a battery operated one.

I don't buy anything that needs to be opened using a tin opener (too much like hard work).

I have one that you put on the lid and then it goes round all on its own. It is starting to wear out now and has to go round twice. :P

I had one of those when they first came out, there seemed to be a design fault in that when the battery ran out it would not let go of the can and the battery was underneath so I threw it and can in the bin, are they designed differently now, could do with one. xx

in reply tolou60

I now have 2 i picked one up second hand. I have never had that problem. The biggest complaint i have is that when the cutter wears out you cant replace it. At the moment both of them have to go round twice to cut through the can. I would still go out and get another though, i couldnt do without one.

I am so sorry to read that but I can totally relate to it. Sometimes when I try and open my packet of jelly babies (yes, I am 51) I really struggle and have to use my scissors. I do get funny looks from my family? Not sure if it is because I am using scissors or eating jelly babies at my age?

All my hopes and dreams for you

My Father in law used to get a jelly baby in the palm of his hand stoke it, talk to it,make it jump about then tell it off for not keeping still. All the Grand children used to sit and watch the looks on their faces was brill, delighted expectation, they knew what was coming they just didnt know when. It always ended with him saying that he had had enough of the naughty jelly baby and he would bite its buddy head off.

As soon as he bit the jelly babys head off they would all scream with laughter.

He was a fantastic bloke. :)

Sounds like it :) My daughter has a favourite teddy bear that I bought her to keep her OCD demons in check. My hubby would put his hands behind the teddy and make it look like it was moving its arms and legs and then would nod its head, she was only 9 and the time and thought it was hilarious. It is great to see kids get so much pleasure out of simple things :) beats computer games any day :)

Don't worry, we are all in the same boat. I struggled to lift my arm to put the coins in a parking meter - I felt silly but at least we have our own little quirks! :) x

Oh dear. This made me smile because I have the same issue and I totally relate to this. Not just with cereal but all sorts of things from picking up a cup to my hairbrush. It's such a pain and I always ask my husband If I can borrow his arms as he finds it funny and keeps me cheery. I hope it doesn't get too bad as we get older but I have a suspicion it will.

Chin up hun and make your dad work for it! !!
