Hello Just wondering if I should invest in a new mattress. Tired of waking up in the morning with pain. Wondering if it could help? I have previously tried many different pillows to gain a good nights sleep. However, as you are all aware a good sleep is not normally possible. Karen xx

back pain
I found that a sprung mattress with memory foam helped a lot with my night time aches and pains, I would also recommend a memory foam pillow. As I turn over a lot to alleviate pain, I found that a really soft mattress helps cushion my joints.

Hello
You may not like my answer,
I have tried all, at the moment I am on a water bed which is nice as it is
Warm.
I am only ever able to lay on one side and my back, my left side is to painful
To lie on. The pain is for me and I guess every one worse at night because
You relax your mussels.
I get times when it is not as bad like most people, but the bed does
Not make much differience. As I said the water bed is nice as it is warm, but
A hot water bottle does just the same.
Just have a comfortable bed one that you find comfortable, I find memory foam
To hard for a pillow and I have tried from the expensive ones to the cheep ones
I get a lot of pain in my head and neck so for me a nice soft one, with a sprung
Mattress or a water bed as there is no pressure on any part of your body, years
Ago water beds were used in hospitals for the relief of pressure areas, but not now
As they use horrid plastic ones.
Both are nice.
Good luck viv
Hi Karen,
Compared to some, I like a firm mattress. But I am getting pressure points now with the fibro and would like to try a few inches of memory foam to cushion those points. I tried a memory foam pillow years ago and it was too hard for me and I couldn't adjust my head and neck enough. I now have two goose down pillows that I can punch in different shapes and firmness. That works for me. I hope you find the right combination.
I still have rough nights, but I doubt it has anything to do with my bed other than occasionally . It has more to do with my state of mind when I fall asleep, my level of pain, whether my allergies are acting up, even what I ate but that is entirely my fault. I have good nights, short nights, insomnia, and often - if not every day - fatigue no matter how I slept. For me, that is just a fact of life with fibro. Well, it is time for my afternoon nap, so . . . seeya later.
Hi, I don't think you can ever solve this 100% but I've found that a memory foam topper has has helped loads. I get the occasional sleepless nights, but nothing like before I bought the 'topper'. I find that I don't get so uptight about it now and just get up and do something rather than lie there worrying. Like others have said, I can't get on with memory foam pillows at all, I prefer something soft to mould round my head and neck. This is all just a personal thing really though, so unfortunately it's a bit of trial and error. X.
You can't beat a good memory foam matress, at first my hubby moaned saying he prefered the previous matress that was an orthopaedic one and very hard. He now recommends a memory foam one to everyone !!!
A good mattress is a good start! After a new mattress, my pains were much better. Make sure to do some gentle stretches after getting up in the morning. I keep my electric bag under my back and before I get up, I switch it on and it helps to relax the sore muscles! You can buy one of those from Boots or Amazon.
Kindest regards
N
