Good morning everyone and I wish you all a pain free and peaceful positive day! I haven't posted in a while, I have been busy with family, counselling sessions and a new addition to the family, a Puppy 🐢 I am not so sure it was the wisest decision, she is gorgeous and cute, but, high energy, mischievous and a lot of hard work. The thinking is she will be company for me and good for my morale, also she will make me exercise by walking more. Already the love she gives me is immense and I look forward to her getting through the hard work stage and becoming calmer and fully housetrained!!! So I am wondering does anyone else get back pain ?? My lower back started to be more painful a couple of days ago, now this morning my thoracic spine is agony again 😒😒😒😒 I do have degenerative disc disease and arthritis as well as fibromyalgia, but I am finding my co codamol 15/500 x2 are not giving much relief, as I have high blood pressure and asthma as well I cannot take anti inflammatory meds. My GP in her wisdom changed my antidepressants without weaning them off which caused horrible side effects, luckily after speaking with another Dr at the practice he reinstated my citalopram on a lower dose and things rapidly improved. I will be seeing him on Thursday to re-evaluate where I go with them, unfortunately he has no " bedside manner" and I don't feel comfortable with him so actually dread going😒😒 It's not my choice of GP practice, ours had to close due to lack of GP's and they were an amazing practice, I miss the security there and the ongoing care and kindness so much 😒 Sadly a sign of the times. Sorry for the negativity guys, I'm having a bit of a wobble at the moment, it will pass. I wish everyone a beautiful and blessed day, free of pain and sadness and full of love and light πŸ€—Xx

Morning hun!

Firstly, I think a picture of the puppy might be a good thing haha! I am so jealous! I've been reading a lot recently about how positive having a pet can be for people like fibro (trying to convince my partner haha!)

Back pain is one of my main fibro sources, my pain has always predominantly been focused on my pelvis and my back. Now I am no longer on tablets, you may have seen the post, so I'll focus on 'other' things that help me!

1. A hot bath, as hot as you can stand, with Epsom salts

2. A TENs machine just used on my back

3. Magnesium spray used after the bath

4. A good book or film (I find it distracts me a little and gives me something else to focus on!)

5. Finding a position that works for you - I find laying on the bed the most stress reliving!

6. Sounds a little weird but sometimes just crying and letting it all out to a partner or friend can really help!

I would maybe try and find a new GP if you can? It's really important that you find someone that you trust and who listens to you, as there are sadly a lot of non believers about there!

Take care of yourself and don't feel guilty for feeling not okay xxxx

Hi DanielleGemma, thanks for the tips and will try some of them. Sadly for me there is a lack of GP's in this area, at least 3 surgeries have closed in the last year and they are building far too many new houses so not enough Drs to go around. I will try to build a rapport with him. I keep meaning to get myself a tens machine and will try to kick my backside into gear to do it!! What does a Magnesium spray do for you?? that's something I haven't heard of. Tears I can and do at times,, sometimes I feel overwhelmed by things and pain and crying is a release. I will pop a photo of my bundle of mischief on for you. Thanks for all the advice, it's really appreciated πŸ˜ƒ Xxxx

Absolutely no problem 😘

Ah, that's a real problem - I guess the best thing you can do is 'suck it up' and try and get on with the one you have - I know that's really hard to do!

I ordered mine from Amazon - it's the St. John's Ambulance one and its purple and small (think I can tell you sorry if not admin!) I think it was about Β£30 but it's been brilliant! Magnesium spray takes the edge off the pain for me, a lot of us Fibro'ers have a lack of magnesium in our systems which is best absorbed through the skin so the spray is great! It doesn't completely stop the pain but it dulls it, so I try and always use it before bed as helps with my legs! I get mine from Holland & Barret they are usually Β£13 a bottle but they last a long time - try and stock up on their 1p sales or their half price sales as then you get two for Β£13!

Molly is absolutely gorgeous I'm so jealous!

Keep strong, you are brave and powerful and amazing πŸ’œπŸ¦‹

Off to H &B today for the Magnesium sprays then!! As to Molly, she makes me get up and will now make me go for walks at least twice a day. Huge thanks to you πŸ’•πŸ¦„πŸ’•

Hi Wingz26

I am so genuinely sorry to read this my friend, and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to your back problem. I use a TENS Machine for backache, as I have a compressed sciatic nerve, and it helps me a great deal. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Hi. There is a lot of bending involved with a puppy and posible lifting it frequently. Things that will hurt all areas of the spine if there are any problems. Try to be very mindful of how you lift and bend particular, arly as the pup starts to grow. Playing games like tugging and fetch can create strain on the back as well.

Sorry to paint a black picture but best to be careful

Hope you keep on having a rewarding time with your dog and enjoy the walks you will be taking every day

Dee
