Fibro
Hi, I get this quite often and have been for an endoscopy a while ago , I go back end of the month to see someone about it , although they said they couldnt see anything at the time of the endoscopy , so maybe it is to do with the fibro , ill let you know what they say x
Hi Cefn48
I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.
This is a common problem with so many different illnesses that it is almost impossible to suggest what it could be? It could be Fibro related, but it can also be sleep related as this can happen with sleep disorders, and of course, respiratory illnesses such as COPD? It can also be a sign of anxiety attacks? So as I say, it is really difficult to know what it is without seeking medical advice?
It would be advisable to discuss this with your GP just to get anything else ruled out and then it is more than likely being caused by your Fibro? I want to wish you all the best of luck with finding some resolution and relief to this issue.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Hi I'm currently waiting to find out if I've got fibro and see the rheumatologist on tuesday
Sorry wasn't meant to send that yet lol. Any way I get the lump feeling all the time and also my throat feels dry and looked it up on line and it says it's down to stress, my mum had the same when I was a child and was told it was stress related but def get seen by your gp,
Hi, I went to my Gp for the same sort of thing. Sometimes I choke on small bits of food and drinks, it is a joke in our house, come to think of it most of my ailments have my family laughing
Anyway my Gp said that the lump I said was in my throat was just far enough down for him not to be able to see it but he thought is was acid from my stomach. He put me on Lansoprazole, and so far if I take them every morning I have not had any problems since. Thank goodness, last time I choked it was in a packed restaurant and I thought I was going to die, couldn't breath..thankfully all good, but my hubby and daughter's faces were nearly worth it
Hi!! I have the same as you tiredalot40!! I wake up really nauseous and have to retch quite frequently, but it's quite funny, once a load of wind comes up I'm fine. I also have a bit of trouble swallowing my meds. However since I've been taking my Lansaprazole every night the nausea isn't as bad. I had an endoscopy some years ago, which didn't show up much, just a small red area which they think could have been causing my chronic heartburn!
Hope you feel better soon!! Sue XXX
I was amazed that heartburn could cause the lump in my throat, apparently is the acid build up. I must be a very sour person
I'm quite sure you're not, we're all different though, and I've found that this damn fibro doesn't come alone.....XXX
I can but hope, I don't fancy any more company for now thank you slowly everything I enjoyed is being stripped away, if it keeps up I will buy a rocking chair (well padded) and hum to myself and hope the boys with the white coats with very fetching long sleeves don't come to take me away
Thats what doc said to me acid can course a lotpproblems xx
Lol thank god your here to tell the tale lol xx im on same meds and its geting bit netter so fingers crossed xx
Hi, I have Ehlers Danlos type 3 and fibromyalgia (among other things!) and I also have problems swallowing. I often choke on food and my voice changes at awkward moments. It either goes squeaky or raspy and it's difficult to get words out. I've had tests and been told it is due to involuntary muscle spasms in my throat. It's a nuisance but not really anything to worry about. It is a feature of dysautomnia (which I also have) and unless it gets really bad is best just left alone. Not a huge amount can be done anyway. Might want to look at the other symptoms of dysautomnia if you have fibromyalgia. They often go together. Good luck.
I have this now. It's just like a golf ball got rammed down your throat. I sometimes have great difficulty swallowing pills, especially Amitriptyline, which may be one of the causes. I have RD & Osteo as well as fibro and have been told I have secondary Sjogrens but taking Amitriptyline definitely makes it worse. I sometimes have to swallow pills with coconut oil so they just slide down!
hi,i get this a lot,its a really horrible feeling.as you say its like you cant swallow, ihave put it down to fibro.i had the camera last year and they didnt find anything,in a way i wish they had as sometimes it is easier for them to put everything down to fibro!
Yes, I always feel like I have a lump in my throat, x
Go see a gastroenterologist. I was diagnosed with Eosiniphilic Esophagitis. It's a relatively new diagnosis, so not all doctors may know about it.
Hi and what is it xxxx
It's a type of allergic reaction where a type of white blood cell called an eosiniphil collects in your esophagus. Most symptoms are a tightening of the throat, trouble swallowing, etc. In severe cases it can actually cause "rings" in your esophagus that need to be broken up, and in some cases can cause tears in your throat. An endoscopy and biopsy can confirm the diagnosis.
