Help with fibro
I find exercising does help me but you have to be careful not to overdo it. I start off doing simple stretching exercises and work my way up to more physical activities if I'm feeling up to it (walking, exercise bike, dancing...). I know others find low impact activities such as Tai Chi, Yoga and swimming beneficial. It is important to keep active if you can as it not just helps you physically but is good for your mental well-being as well. Frequent chronic headaches are one of my main symptoms and the usual migraine/headache meds came nowhere near touching them until my GP prescribed Propranolol (beta-blocker) which seems to keep them under control. Good luck and hope you find some relief from your pain. x
Thankyou for sharing u info will do as much as I can but it hurts when u r in pain just glad to have a dr that knows about it I’m on Maxalt for migraine have it every day and seem to be losing my balance
Get numbness pins and needle cramp pain in legs got osteoarthritis in my back sharps pains throbbing pain do u get all this x
As well as the headaches I was getting numbness down my left side, tremors and would sometime feel unsteady on my feet but the beta blockers seem to have eased all that. I do suffer with pains in my beck, neck and shoulders but find soaking in warm bath with Epsom salts can ease the pain.x
Yes I have hot baths it’s going every where how long u had it what caused it. Mine was RA the pain under ribs kills had gall bladder out still get the pain had 2 knees replaced
Can’t walk far x
Oh sounds painful, poor you. My aches and pains are all fibro related and although only diagnosed couple of years ago, in hindsight I think I've probably had it for at least 6 years, trigger seems to be when my mum passed away as I found it pretty traumatic. I am lucky though that I don't have any other ailments so I'm not as bad as a lot of others including yourself. x
makes such a difference when you have a gp that understands fibro
exercise/activity has been shown in research to be possibly the best treatment for fibro ... however, as Ramjets says you need to be careful to start off slowly and build up.
I always suggest to people that you start off by doing LESS than you can do now. using walking for an example.
- You are able to walk to the end of your garden, so you start by walking this distance a few times a day.
- to increase you walk to the first lampost (or the next door neighbour's gate etc) ... and do this for a few days
- when able to do this comfortably, you walk to the next lampost etc ... and continue increasing
it doesnt matter how long it takes you to slowly increase .... some people might find they can increase the distance every other day ..... another person might find they can only increase once a week. but gradually you will find that the muscle strength increases and that you are able to do more activity. xxxx
