Hi hessy

I sincerely hope that you are feeling well today? I have not had anything of this nature, I have just been given a supplement on prescription. I want to wish you all the best and I hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for.

I have pasted you a link to the NHS Choices page on Vitamin B12 injections:

Hi

I have pernicious anaemia (b12 deficiency). I was diagnosed a year ago after taking supplements for 6 months and b12 still dropped. I initially had an injection of hydroxicobalamin every 2 days for a week. I now have this injection once every 3 months. It does really help, as when injection is due I can fall asleep anywhere lol.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Jayne,

I also have pernicious anaemia, I was getting injection

every 13 weeks but by week 6 or 7 I could sleep like you,

I requested if I could get B12 more frequently as I felt

after week 7 to week 13 I had no quality of life pretty

much sleeping 6 weeks out of 13 weeks I get my B12

every 8 weeks so only extremely tired, but can't manage

for upto two week before injectionis due, ask you may get

your injection more frequently when it impacts quality

of your life. Let me know how yiu get on Take care x

Hi Honor1a

I did ask for them to be done more frequently and unfortunately I was told that the injection is only licensed for use every 3 months and therefore I can't have them more often than that.

I had my injection 2 weeks ago, but for 3 weeks before that I was falling asleep constantly.

I'm glad you have managed to get them more regularly. I have another blood disorder at the as well, so I may ask the specialist when I see him about that one. Its worth a try!

Thanks for advice.

I had the hydroxy stuff, and I think I need another one! The symptoms have returned, namely a very sore mouth and tongue. I can't really say whether I noticed an improvement or not!! XX

Apparently methylcobalmin is better for some people as its more easily absorbed. Have had the hydroxocobalamin with no effect.
