My husband completed the ESA50 form in June 2013.

Finally, after waiting nearly 14 months, he had a reply from Atos, his medical is next week............ So, if anyone is still waiting to hear about their application for ESA, or in his case, renewal, don't give up. Needless to say, all the stress and lack of benefit , has caused considerable problems for me, as I'm the Fibromite, carer and chief worrier, not him.

Gentle hugs to all.

I do so hope that his assessment goes well. My husband was in the same position and it took us 2 years of appealing to get the right decision and the stress on us both was immense. We nearly gave up several times but in the end it was the injustice of it all and a matter of principle to carry on and when we won we just sat there and looked at one another trying to get it to sink in. Unfortunately, with the restrospective rules his ESA ceased about 6 months later as it was contribution based and he hand been on it over 12 months. When it came to my turn for renewal and it got to tribunal stage my husband just asked me to drop it as I was due for retirement in about 5 months and would lose ESA in any case as he just could not bear the thought of us going to tribunal again and perhaps having to go through the same. To this day I regret it and wished i had fought on. We might not be able to beat the system but we should not let it beat us down. Good luck to everyone who is going through thisx
