Hi dolly84'

I know what you mean I've put a stone on this year , I'm having the menopause so I don't think that helps. You are much younger. I would visit the GP and chat to them, you could ask for blood tests to check your thyroid and other hormone levels. It's good to rule other stuff out if you are not eating much. Hope this helps. Take care, kath. X

Hi Dolly. Have you been put on any new drugs recently as some of those can have the effect of weight gain with some people. I have lost 5lbs in about 3 weeks from coming off one of the drugs I was on and I haven;t changed my diet at all. I would certainly have a word with you doctor.x

Hi Dolly84

I am so sorry to read that you are experiencing this weight gain, and I really think you should discuss this issue with your GP, especially since you are not on any medication?

I am not a doctor so I cannot say that a particular thing is responsible, but it does sound hormonal?

I want to wish you all the best of luck with this

Hi Dolly,

Do see your Gp and check your weight! Are you taking pregbalin? It puts weight on and makes you hungry so I am battling to keep weight steady . My daughter is about your age and she has given up wheat and dairy she is allergic. Any way keep trying!

I'm sorry you feel so rotten. I've joined ww and have just got 3 stone off since January. Feel tons better. They've been so supportive & gp is chuffed. I'm not too active either and it's worked. But one thing I do know. Is that you have got to eat to loose...the right stuff of course. Not eating will slow your metabolism down and you need it up to burn the fat away. It's low fat filling and healthy and loosing it with others in the same position has been wonderful. Hope you feel better soon. Xxx

Dear Dolly, if you aren't on any drugs at the moment, it sounds like a hormonal problem (especially with the hairs on your chin). I really think you need to get your doctor to investigate.

Do hope you get some help soon.

Sounds a lot like hypothyroidism. Your doctor will need to perform a lab test with a blood draw. Good luck. Keep us posted.
