Myfitnesspal is wonderful to track what you eat with. It tells you your total daily calories intake with nutritional breakdowns so you can be more mindful of the intake.

What is strange about fibromyalgia pain is that the more physical activity you put in the better your pain will be. I don't mean weight lifting or running, but just walking regularly 10 minutes a day to start with and build up to 30 minutes a day. Why not give that a try and you may be happy to see weight loss as a result too.

God o can't even do that I use to do it all even bought a cross trainer I just do wNt I can st the minute itsays that if we do it slow and build it up it will help the bones. So I'm going to have to try . I'm doing physio and it's so painful ful though x

I find doing excercise does help with the pain. Try a treadmill it's more gentle than a cross trainer I just walk on mine and does help.I'm also struggling with weight but think mine is down to medication. I am not giving up with diet or excercise.

It is strange isn't it? I took a morning walk for the first time in weeks today and I didn't need an afternoon nap today! Unheard of.

Can you do gentle swimming at all nothing major just gradual?I did also gain weight on meds quite quickly but benefits out weigh not being on them unfortunately. Our metabolism does seem to slow down as we get in our forties , I hope you find something that helps , sensible diet is helpful but I still allow myself some treats xx

I would love to go swimming but my local pool has the normal ladder into the pool which I can just manage but I cannot climb out.

Yes I know that feeling , you’d think by now pools would be more equipped to help people, I have been known just to go in children’s pool(some separate as no climbing in )and they are normally warmer too, but it’s getting to places I know . I walked yesterday ,had lunch @did a few shops for Xmas with my daughter so excercise as such but today I’m pooped and achy , cannot win can we. Xx

I no its ridiculous. With pools I would do the same going into children's pool . Miss it so much I struggle getting into the shower has I have to get over the bath with the pain I have in my leg . . So it's not just me then can't get in and out of places x

No not at all, I love my baths more , i some how get on all fours to get out and hang on to something😂always some storage of some Epsom’s salts, they do some amazing smells now too @grab a few when they are on offer. I always tell hubbie when I go for a bath if he hears a loud bang on the wall it’s because I need help, my knee has gone now but holding out for a knee replacement just turned 60 @hospital says if I can keep going as it would properly mean another one in my later years. People say you don’t look 60 (lovely comment but inside I’m falling apart 😂)xx

Hi I struggle with weight due to my mobility. I joined Slimming World 2 weeks ago and was 6lb lighter on Tuesday I missed my first weigh in because I had a chest infection but stuck to my eating plan. I have done it before.but gave up in lockdown due to my anxiety levels and not seeing my daughter and grandchildren for about 4 months during that time. There is no magic fix for losing weight I have to be in the right frame of mind. I struggle to exercise I walk more than I did just to keep moving but to no great lengths. I find it easier to lose weight belonging to a Slimming World group I need that support. Good luck with the weight Misty x

When the Rheumatologist diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia she recommended a book called Feel Great Lose Weight by Dr Rangan Chatterjee. It's not a diet book as such. Concentrates on lifestyle so how we eat, what we eat etc. It talks about exercise in a doable way.

I have found it helpful anyway.

Hope you find something that helps you.

Hi there,

It isn't surprising that we have nearly all put on weight since Covid started, what with a lot of us being confined to the house by lockdowns and self isolation.

Sitting around has helped to spread our behinds as well, comfort eating, general lack of exercise; eating more junk as we find our motivation lacking and do less cooking.

I am sooo Guilty of it all.

Cheers, Midori

Hi Michelleswshopping I've recently been taken off Gabapenton and during this time I joined Slimming World as I had put on so much weight. I've lost 22lbs in 8 weeks so I would definitely say it was the medication and my advice would be to keep a check on it before it gets out of hand like mine did. xx

Well done for the weight loss and determination.weight Is a daily battle with or without the meds . You are Amazing.personally it was quite a few years of struggling with pain before giving in to taking meds in the hope of being able to exercise more for well being and to fight any extra gained pounds.and try to ignore pain and fatigue unfortunately This hasn’t worked for me … For Many it has though, thank goodness.

Now I am determined to come off meds gradually but have gathered extra stones and more health problems with COPD . For a few of years tried to get back in swimming pool but need help to get in ,get out and get dressed.

That feeling when you are in the water ,taking your weight helping manage your breathing and pain if only for awhile…ahhhhh. Then when you get out, to feel that tired and exhausted because you have actually been able to do something to help yourself and get that tired for a reason…. I need that back . Not more meds or weight thank you.

Wow, that's great news , I do think medi actions does alot but was like this before medication. Doesn't help has u get older shaw it's harder x

Yes this flipping pandemic, told by my GP, you are in isolation, and casually mentions Diabetes 2, and on medication, [have other medical conditions] so learn to diet and isolate at the same time. NICE! Weight now pretty steady, formed strict diet, my father had similar problem, plus he had Parkinsons as well! [have been tested before for that, negative!] Have lost about a stone since March 2020, recently slightly gaining a few pounds, but at least had me jabs [+flu], and able to get out, knowing my extra pounds are cholesterol free, still on diet!😗🙃

Hi, I think all of us at some point have a problem with weight suffering from fibromyalgia. My respiratory consultant talks exercise being problematic with this condition, plus many other poor souls on this site suffer with other pain issues. The thing is people not suffering from fibromyalgia have pain at end of good exercise, with fibromyalgia you have it before you start your exercise. So there is the weight problem!

Yeah probably that's true never thought of ot like that . I'm annoyed I use to go on my crosstrainer and have found difference with not going on but o ly started last year until I got worse x
