just wanted to rant. having major problems using stairs and there are 13 steps of hell in my house.
the pain is chronic when i have to go up stairs for the loo. does not help that i have overactive bladder. will have to make appointment with gp regardign the pain increase when i have to use stairs and walking any distance. once i have seen her i will contact my local council to see what the criteria is for someone wanting to be considered for a bungalow. my granddaughter (6&4) think it is a game when grandma wants the loo and has to go up on hands and knees. just so fed up just now as the pain in lower back, bottom, hips and legs just does not seem to ease at all. so tired as i am not sleeping well even though the meds i take have a sedative in them.
sorry to mone so much but i am having one of those days.
gental hugs to you all

Rant away as it is so frustrating. That is the reason my husband and I are going to down size to a bungalow. Twice in the last year I have been marooned upstairs because of the intense pain that has made coming downstairs impossible and of course our only loo is upstairs. On on the bad days it is like trying to climb Mount Everest. Sincerely hope you have a better day tomorrow and you get some sleep tonightx
My gp referred me to occupational therapy at my request. They fitted two grab rails, one by the back door and one in the shower. They also gave me a perch stool which is brilliant. I've had OT back today and they're putting in another stair hand rail plus another grab handle at the back door. I am lucky that I have a downstairs loo. Wishing you the best of luck. And moan away, it's no problem. xx
I know just how you feel regarding the stairs & climbing mount everest, I too struggle really bad with the stairs, same sort of pain problems in the same area as you I also have Chronic Coccydenia so cannot sit for more than a few minutes at a time I'm now lookinf for a Bungalow too.
Good luck with any move, problem I found with a stair-lift is that they are slow and it you need to get to the loo quickly they don't help that much. Too much information!
In my old house, I had a problem because the only bathroom was downstairs, so at night I couldn't get there. My partner has an overactive bladder so we bought a commode chair online and it just looks like a wicker bedroom chair. It was fantastic for both of us. Just a suggestion, but good luck with whatever you do.
I really sympathise. Stairs are just the worst aren't they. I really feel for you. I live in an upside house. Bathroom and kitchen downstairs. Absolute nightmare. So much so that we are moving to our lovely luxurious all on one level static caravan. Be much easier for me to 'tend to' as well.
Take care and I really hope you are not having too much pain today. Lyn x
Hmm. Council might have a shortage as they're so popular - wonder why? They might offer a stairlift or first floor flat in preference but don't take the first one that comes along. I have about 3 neighbours from hell and when I'm in a flair I could scream.
I like the idea of a stair lift but with fibro fog, get a turbo version. Gets you upstairs before you forget why you're going
Ooh dobie! I have the same problem! I have applied for an apartment specifically designed for over 55s. I tried to get a stairlift but my house is old and the stairs are too narrow.
I'm ashamed to say that I have a bucket in the kitchen which I use instead of having to attempt the stairs all day! For No 1s I mean! If I didn't there would be accidents everywhere!! Good luck with your search for a bungalow! XX
Dear Dobie 62. I really do feel for you, we fibromites, really have a stressful and busy time, always having to deal with many matters, to try and make life easier for us. I too had social services in to equip me. Whether now or when you manage to move, you do need the equipment that takes the stress off your legs. The grab rails on the stairs are brilliant, but it can be painful on your hands, neck and shoulder to pull on. The really useful one is the perching stool in kitchen, frame round the toilet and bath board.
I do wish you all the luck and happiness for the future ventures. You should not be afraid to ask for help from the GP. God bless, big hugs. xxx
