I am currently taking naproxen, co drydamol, lofrepamine and Zopiclone (occasionally). I suffer with chronic neck pain, leg pain (walking sticks used), face pain (tempural myalgic something). I rarely sleep hence the occasional sleeping pill. Arthritis in both knees and right shoulder. My hair fell out just over a year ago (can be the Amytryptiline) but my mother passed away at that time, other stress situations at the same time. So not necessarily the Amytryptiline. I am not very active and have gained just over a stone in the last six months, not sure if that's why GP reluctant to try Pregablin. He's not very helpful on my condition and unless I press him about certain symptoms he just puts it down to the fibromyalgia. I had to push for three months before he referred me to the hospital for a diagnosis on my face pain. I also have deteriorating eye sight, two changes in my glasses prescription in the last two years. Sorry I'm having a moan, didn't sleep again last night and just really wanted some feed back on the Pregablin.

Hi. Is anyone taking Pregablin? I have tried Amytryptiline but I didn't like it. I have asked GP about this, he said weight gain is usual.
Morning Lee I know exactly how you are feeling , I too am a Fibro back knee hip etc etc pain chronic nothing matches it. However I have eventually got to Pregabalin I have worked up the dosage and now take 1/200 in morning slow release and 400gr in evening apparently this is maximum dose.
Question: is it the answer?
Well it certainly helps I am gradually recovering some semblance of a sleep pattern having been constantly awake for so long this is a terrific boon.
It does ease the pain a level of good effect which is not to be sneezed at.
So I have put on weight - taken off 2 stones put 1 1/2 back - It racks me off no end. But it is a battle and I shall keep fighting!
Good luck let me know how you get on.

Hi there
I took pregabalin before i fell pregnant 300mg 2xdaily. I found it really helped. Can't see I noticed any weight gain with it. Can you see another GP?
Is eye slight deterioration a symptom of fibro? Mines is bad and should have stopped changing ears ago but I need new glasses every year since my diagnosis x
I've been on pregabalin for a couple of years now. I have played around with the dose, as it did make me put on 2 stone in about 3 months. I'm currently on a very low dose, but finds it does help greatly. I have tried coming off it in the past to see if that helps with the weight gain, but I quickly start taking it again as there is a very noticeable pain relief from it.
I would advise trying it. However, you must always change dose very slowly. When I was on a larger dose and was coming down to a smaller dose, I got headaches if I went down too quickly.
And I'd also suggest changing GP. Things are so much easier with a cooperative GP.
Hi there, thank you for feedback. I have tried other GP's in practice but they are all pretty much same. I am hoping to move into a bungalow soon in different area. Find new GP then x
Yeah, I've spent a couple of months trying different GPs in my surgery, finally found a good one - just hope he's not temporary!
Hi Lee6152
I do not personally use Pregabalin, but I just wanted to wish you all the bets of luck with these.
Take care

Hi Lee6152,
I am really sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. I too was prescribed Amytriptiline, but never took it, because anti-depressants have the opposite reaction and depress me even more - so no help for that. As far as the Pregablin is concerned - it is called Lyrica in my country (Namibia Africa) I only take 75mg at night and it really helps me with sleep, but the ultimate help for sleep I got from taking LDN - I sleep like a baby now and it is reducing my pain.
Blessings
Sweetheart hair loss and weight gain could be due to your thyroid levels. You should go get blood tests to make sure it's okay. As for your doctor... go to a pain clinic, it saved me, it's made my life bearable. Hope you find some relief soon!!!! xxxx Mitzi
Hi Lee
Yes I take Pregablin, I have put on about half a stone but I have put that down to not being so active I was very active before I became ill masses of walking, swimming and gardening. To me it is worth the trade off of the help with the burning pain I was experiencing. Give it a try but start at a low dose and slowly build up as it does help reducing any side effects. Let us know how you get onx
Hi, I gained 6 pounds in the 6 weeks that I tried Pregabelin. I thought it was because I was so sleepy with them and not moving about much.
However, I was recently told by a specialist nurse that it increases your appetite so you have to be careful how much extra you eat, preferably none!
Thank you all for your feedback. Think I will push for the Pregablin and see how it goes x
