Congratulations! I was going to say well done but it seemed inadequate, a result like that is as good as winning the lottery and just as rare!☺

Thanks gins just have to be yourself the panel see u unlike dla to them ur just a peace of paper so glad the panel were nice and understanding

Hi Chris so glad you finally got your reward, however, is it DLA or PIP as I am sure now most people even with long time awards eventually have to claim PIP. Still waiting to hear if I am being called for assessment or whether enough proof was sent.

Well done again x

Hi everyone, I am very pleased for you Chris . However, I am somewhat confused. I too was given DLA for life, but know that I will at some point be transferred to PIP, which has different levels now, and I believe cannot be given for life anymore, I do not want to sound like I am doom and gloom, but this was my understanding, perhaps if someone could put me straight I would be very grateful. Thank you.

If ur on dla it gets moved over to pip because I got letter from ados healthcare saying dla had sent all my information over to them so yes I'm confused if it's now pip or not? Life means u never have to appy for it again..

Hello Chris69,

I am sorry to say that the information above is correct as far as my understanding goes, under the old DLA they gave some awards for life. However as you move over to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) you will be assessed under this new system and reviewed as per PIP requirements.

Please see this quote from Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) below;

There is no automatic transfer from DLA to PIP. If you’re already getting DLA and you were aged 16 to 64 on 8 April 2013, or you become 16 after that date, the DWP will eventually ask you to make a new claim for PIP even if you have an indefinite or lifetime award of DLA

The DWP will inform you when you need to claim PIP. If you fail to claim it, your DLA award will end. If you make a claim for PIP, the DWP will continue to pay DLA until four weeks after they make a decision on whether you can get it. There should be no break in payment if you move on to PIP

adviceguide.org.uk/england/...

I felt I should inform you as I wouldn't want you to get a shock later on and I know this will be a great disappointment but I felt I had a duty to mention it.

I understand you will feel this is unfair and we all feel the same about the recent changes in the system. Therefore I personally support any campaigns I can who are trying to bring about change to the system ie War on Welfare.

Again, so sorry to be the one to mention it. You won't have to be reassessed until 2015 if that is any comfort to this situation.

Best Wishes

Emma :)

I was on dla they stopped my payments last mth went to my appeal yesterday and was awarded I've already spoken to pip and was told if I didn't get awarded anything at my appeal I could then claim for pip but cos I've been awarded by a appeal panel it goes straight to pip as there isn't dla no more ,, thanks for the info tho

why would I be asked to a dla appeal to be awarded high rate mobility and middle rate care for life then fill out pip form dont make any sense??

And I wasnt there for pip it was for dla

as the saying goes dont listen to everything u told over the internet!!!
