Whats up with the carpal tunnel tests?

My rheumatologists have referred be for a nerve conduction test in my hands to detect carpal tunnel. I have now been made the subject of a carpal tunnel study. I am quite sure I don't have carpal tunnel. Just fibro.

Hello Milynda. I discovered that I had carpal tunnel l when I was undergoing tests for fibro and had the nerve conduction test to confirm the diagnosis. There is nothing to it I sat on a bed while what i take it were electrodes were attached to my fingers. sounds bad but I honestly did not feel a thing. In fact I got rather bored and was glad when I could go.. the specialist will change the position of the wires from time to time and watch the results on a screen and thats all there is to it. Hope this answeres your question and puts any worry you had to rest. hugs sue

Hi Milynda

I am with mayrose54 as I have been through this although I was clear. I am so sorry if it is unduly worrying you. If it is why not talk to them about how they are making you feel over this issue?

Good luck and please keep us posted on how everything goes. Hoping that you are feeling as well as you can be.

That's what I thought, several years ago. I was wrong. Common with fm

Mine was carpel tunnel in both hands. Operation on right hand but not left cus it`s not causing any problems sue

The tests are really nothing at all to be worried about, they don't take long and are not remotely invasive nor painful.

First I had to sit on a chair with my arms over the bed in front of me, the electrodes get attached to your fingers and the "shocker" bit to my wrist, and the readings were immediately available on the computer.

Then I had to lie on the bed and have the electrodes attached to my toes, with the "shocker" bit attached to my ankles.

The tests were over in less than 15 minutes and I was given the all clear then and there.

I hope it all goes as smoothly for you. Good luck!
