Hi,

I got my GP to refer me to the pain clinic. From there I was put on a one , 3 hour, pain management session. At the end of the session I was invited to go on the Fibromyalgia Management course which really helped me. It might be worth asking your GP?

I have a new GP now and I am not sure how much info she has on Fibro so I can sympathise with you.

Hugs

Jillyxx

I suggest you ask your doctor to check your notes from the rheumatologist and if necessary ask to be re-referred if not clear enough. The same happened to me in 2007 I saw one and he told me I definitely had the condition and prescribed tabs to help and suggested I went on a 'pain control' course. As I was working still at the time I cancelled the course but then struggled for years with work and sickness. It was only when I was on ESA I claimed DLA only to find the hospital had not worded the original letter to my GP correctly making it clear I had 'Fybromyalgia'. I got knocked back so had to ask the doctor why it was not noted and asked for a new referral to sort out the matter. Can I ask if you have claimed PIP or any help? I am still waiting now for a decision from ESA and also a hearing from PIP as I can't face signing on again so tiring looking for work when nobody wants you.

Hi if you feel you would benefit from seeing the rheumy again just ask your doc for a referral .

I think when they are happy with diagnoses they place in community care - you are going to ask what that is- basically with your Doctor . It is like being released on are own commonsense. Thank goodness for this site and fibroaction.org site where you can always ask questions and find answers

Take care xgins

Hi I had the same prob with my GPs and went to another doctor within my health center but a think its very hard to get any doctor to understand wot we go through everyday I was told by of mine bf diagnosed to go for a wkd break away and maybe try a massage I came out the clinic in tears it took 3+ years to get a answer or diagnoses.the best thing to do is write everyfin down and try and get a Good GP who u fel comfortable talking to and who will take the time to list in to u .ano its hard but don't give up .I have a GP now who I can talk to but I still fel its hard to get through to hur wot its like everyday .because they tend to put everyfin down to stress x
